📢 Advancing GI Education at DCEC!

In a collaborative effort to bring GI-specific education to nurses and ancillary staff, the local SGNA recently hosted an impactful event at our DCEC location. 🎓💡

With support from Dr. Merritt and Dr. Navas, both passionate advocates for nutrition and minimally invasive interventions, attendees explored cutting-edge endoscopic weight loss procedures like the Obera Balloon, gastric aspiration, and Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG).

We also looked back at the history of weight loss interventions and discussed the revolutionary role of GLP-1 medications in obesity management today.

🙌 With 23 nurses and GI professionals in attendance, the event was filled with insightful discussions, interactive Q&As, and incredible feedback.
Together, we’re committed to advancing GI education and improving patient care—one session at a time.

A proud Clay County native, Dr. Madhok is excited to return home and provide gastroenterology care in his hometown of Orange Park. Board certified in Internal Medicine and fellowship-trained in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, he offers comprehensive, patient-centered care for a wide range of GI conditions, always tailoring diagnosis and treatment to meet each patient’s unique needs and improve their quality of life.

Dr. Madhok graduated from the Honors Program at the University of Florida and earned his medical degree from the Florida State University College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at UF Health in Gainesville, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, where he served as chief fellow.

He has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field of gastroenterology.

When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Madhok enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring with his dog Max, and cheering on the Florida Gators. 🐊

Please join us in welcoming Avery Chisholm, MD to the Borland Groover team! 🎉

Dr. Chisholm is a fellowship-trained gastroenterologist now seeing patients at our Nassau Crossing location. She specializes in the diagnosis and management of liver diseases, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and has a clinical focus on metabolic health, lifestyle medicine, and hepatology. Her approach to care blends cutting-edge diagnostics, including Fibroscan elastography, with a compassionate, patient-centered philosophy.

Dr. Chisholm earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, GA. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she cultivated a strong foundation in liver and digestive health. She went on to complete her Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she participated in advanced clinical training and ongoing research in liver disease, including quality improvement projects targeting spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and early screening for hepatic fibrosis.

A passionate advocate for service and education, Dr. Chisholm has been recognized with honors such as the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Distinction in Service to the Community. She has presented research at national conferences including Digestive Disease Week and remains committed to advancing care through both academic and community engagement.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Chisholm enjoys exploring the outdoors, traveling, and expressing her creativity through arts and crafts. ✨
