As we look ahead to a new year, many physicians think about growth β€” not just professionally, but personally.

Here are three meaningful goals for internists, and how being part of the ACP Florida Chapter can help you achieve them:

πŸ”Ή Stay clinically current
Through CME opportunities, scientific meetings, workshops, and trusted educational resources.

πŸŽ™οΈ The Future of Medicine: AI & the Physician–Patient Relationship

In this conversation, Dr. Lugo shares an optimistic perspective on how artificial intelligence may shape medicine over the next decade.

πŸ’‘ Key takeaway:
AI has the potential to give physicians and residents time back β€” streamlining documentation, speeding up note creation, and reducing administrative burden.

By spending less time on screens, clinicians can spend more time with patients, strengthening the physician–patient relationship.

Innovation, when used thoughtfully, can help us deliver more human-centered care. πŸ’™

🌍 ❀️ December 1 β€” World AIDS Day

Today, more than 40.8 million people worldwide are living with HIV (UNAIDS).
Thanks to major advancements in treatment and care, nearly 31.6 million people are receiving antiretroviral therapy in 2024, allowing them to live long, healthy lives with sustained viral suppression (WHO).

At ACP Florida Chapter, we recognize that the fight against HIV/AIDS is not only the role of specialists β€” every clinician can make an impact. 🩺

✨ Key reminders:

βœ… Early diagnosis saves lives β€” knowing one’s HIV status is the first step to effective care.

πŸ”„ Modern treatment = long and healthy life β€” with consistent therapy, many people with HIV now have near-normal life expectancy (Our World in Data).

🀝 Compassion and support matter β€” reducing stigma is still essential. Education, empathy, and patient-centered care remain as important as medical treatment.

🩺 Well-being Spotlight: Mental Health in Residency
Residency is demanding β€” and sometimes overwhelming. But one thing matters most: you are not alone.

In this heartfelt reflection, Dr. Olga Karasik, MD, FACP, reminds residents that many share the same challenges, fears, and doubts.

What changes everything? πŸ‘‰ Talking to each other. Finding community. Seeking help when you need it.

πŸ‘‡ If you’ve ever felt this way, what helped you keep going? Share your thoughts in the comments to support others. πŸ’¬

Together, we rise. πŸ’™

πŸŽ™οΈ Leadership Spotlight: Dr. Ankush K. Bansal, MD, FACP

As he enters his fourth and final year as Governor of the ACP Florida Chapter, Dr. Bansal reflects on what has made this journey truly meaningful.

With more than 9,000 members, ACP-FL is the largest chapter of the largest medical specialty society in the world β€” and its strength comes from the incredible diversity of its physicians, their backgrounds, training, and experiences.

πŸ’™ β€œThe breadth of diversity within our chapter β€” in education, experience, and practice β€” has been the most memorable part of my time as Governor.”

We are proud of the community that makes ACP-FL a model of excellence, inclusion, and leadership in internal medicine.
