🩺 Well-being Spotlight: Mental Health in Residency
Residency is demanding β€” and sometimes overwhelming. But one thing matters most: you are not alone.

In this heartfelt reflection, Dr. Olga Karasik, MD, FACP, reminds residents that many share the same challenges, fears, and doubts.

What changes everything? πŸ‘‰ Talking to each other. Finding community. Seeking help when you need it.

πŸ‘‡ If you’ve ever felt this way, what helped you keep going? Share your thoughts in the comments to support others. πŸ’¬

Together, we rise. πŸ’™

πŸŽ™οΈ Leadership Spotlight: Dr. Ankush K. Bansal, MD, FACP

As he enters his fourth and final year as Governor of the ACP Florida Chapter, Dr. Bansal reflects on what has made this journey truly meaningful.

With more than 9,000 members, ACP-FL is the largest chapter of the largest medical specialty society in the world β€” and its strength comes from the incredible diversity of its physicians, their backgrounds, training, and experiences.

πŸ’™ β€œThe breadth of diversity within our chapter β€” in education, experience, and practice β€” has been the most memorable part of my time as Governor.”

We are proud of the community that makes ACP-FL a model of excellence, inclusion, and leadership in internal medicine.

🫁 November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death in the United States β€” yet early detection saves lives.

As internists, we play a crucial role in identifying risks, encouraging screening, and supporting patients through every step of care.

Here are a few key reminders this month:
πŸ”Ή Screen eligible patients β€” annual low-dose CT scans are recommended for adults 50–80 years old with a β‰₯20 pack-year smoking history who currently smoke or quit within the past 15 years.
πŸ”Ή Promote smoking cessation β€” brief interventions and follow-ups make a real difference.
πŸ”Ή Address stigma β€” create an open, supportive space for patients to discuss risk factors and concerns.
πŸ”Ή Advocate for equitable access to screening and treatment.

Together, we can raise awareness and improve outcomes β€” one patient conversation at a time. πŸ’™

🩺 November is Diabetes Awareness Month

Diabetes affects more than 38 million people in the U.S., and many are unaware they have it. As internists, we play a key role in early detection, prevention, and patient education.

Here are a few reminders this month:

πŸ”Ή Screen regularly β€” early diagnosis can prevent complications.
πŸ”Ή Empower patients to make sustainable lifestyle changes.
πŸ”Ή Address social determinants of health β€” access to care, nutrition, and education are vital.
πŸ”Ή Encourage follow-up and continuity of care to improve outcomes.

Every conversation matters β€” awareness starts with us. πŸ’™
