Team spotlight! Meet Danielle!
What is your favorite population/diagnosis to work with?
If you asked me in grad school I would say the older adult population but after 3 years in peds I highly enjoy working with the peds population - I enjoy assessing reflex integration and creating HEP/sensory diets with parents that promote emotion regulation and participation in play and self-care skills!

What is your favorite sports team, book, or movie?
My favorite book is “The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah — occupational therapy is mentioned in the book and I just think that’s so cool!

Do you have any pets?
I have one super sweet goldendoodle named Finan

If you weren’t an OT, what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t an OT I think I would enjoy being an event planner. During grad school I planned several events during OT Month and my classes’ graduation banquet!

Meet Ashley! She has been with Advantage for 14 years!

What is your favorite population/diagnosis to work with?
I love sensory kids!! They make me think differently every day because a child with a sensory problem does not think the same every day and does not need the same sensory input every day. They keep me on my toes by trying to find out what is going on and why, then I can better help the teachers and parents understand how their student or child’s brain is processing their surroundings to help them be successful in that environment and become successful in life, once in school.

What is your favorite sports team, book, or movie?
Favorite sports team: NC State
Favorite movie: The Jungle Book

Do you have any pets?
We have 4 German Shepards (Luna is 4 years old and is the mother to Red Man, Neka, and Daisy Mae, who just turned 2 years old). We have 15 chickens and 8 goats.

If you weren’t a COTA, what would you be doing?
I would be working with my Dad full time, helping him with his business, or a stay-at-home Mom taking care of our 3 kids.

I have been married for 17 years to Patrick, who is a PTA at Wayne Memorial. We have three wonderful children who keep us busy. Twin boys who are 10 yo that are 1st degree black belts with 6 gup stars that love to play baseball and soccer. A little girl who is almost 9 yo who loves gymnastics and tumbling.

Still celebrating PT month! Meet LeeAnne who also recently celebrated her birthday!

What is your favorite population/diagnosis to work with?
High school athletes. I do love geriatrics too. Knees are my favorite.

What is your favorite sports team, book, or movie?
I am a diehard ECU fan. I love to read- David Baldacci, James Patterson -action filled books. I love the movie with Cuba Gooding as the underwater diver, the Soul surfer, Officer and a Gentleman.

Do you have any pets?
I have a pet chihuahua named Zia who is 6 years old and very spoiled. She sleeps with me!

If you weren’t a PT, what would you be doing?
I can’t imagine not being a PT but I feel I would be in sports somewhere- Tennis coach?
