Florida Children’s Institute provides comprehensive service and support for children and families dealing with behavioral problems. We take multidisciplinary approach, working with educational, medical, and psychological service providers, to address problem behavior and improve skill acquisition. We strive to include parent training, coordination across multiple caregivers/therapists, as well as follow up services to achieve the best possible outcomes.

This week, our tip is all about one of our favorite parenting mindset tips:

Remember the phrase “your child is not giving you a hard time, they are having a hard time.”

Our little ones don’t yet know how to communicate their emotions the way we do. They aren’t trying to make you mad or frustrated. They just need to be taught how to process their big feelings. If you shift your mindset, you'll be more likely to help them work through their feelings in a healthy way than to yell or get mad yourself.
