There will be free health screenings and education, 2 rounds of an Easter Egg Hunt, face painting, food trucks, music, games, and more!

Onslow Memorial Hospital and Onslow Emergency Medical Services are partnering with the RACE-CARS Trial from Duke University and 30 North Carolina counties in a statewide attempt to set a world record by training 30,000 people.

On the first Friday of every month, our teammates at Onslow Memorial Hospital host a free Community Health Screening event at the Main Library, located at 58 E Doris Ave in Jacksonville. The event runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Stop by to learn about important health indicators such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels.

Heart Health Is Brain Health

February is Heart Month, a time to focus on cardiovascular health, but did you know that heart health is also brain health? The connection between heart health and brain health is strong, and understanding it can help reduce your risk of stroke and cognitive decline.

Jennifer Davies, Stroke Nurse Coordinator at Onslow Memorial Hospital, explains that the brain uses 20% of the oxygen carried by our blood to function. If your heart and blood vessels do not circulate blood efficiently, your risk of stroke increases. When the heart and blood vessels are healthy, blood flows freely to the brain.
