Announcing the launch of my website, sunrisedoulajax.com! Building this has truly been a labor of love…and vulnerability. It feels second nature to show up authentically in intimate, one-on-one moments for the families I’ve come to know since starting this business, but sharing my voice so publicly has been daunting. After the last two years of painstaking work, too many tears to count and a million second guesses, I’m finally ready to open up my digital doors, imperfections and all. I hope my authentic care and unique approach shine through online, just like they do in person. Thank you for supporting me however feels right for you 🙏🏼

Birth Testimonial ✨💬📝💕
I’m so grateful for the families I get to walk alongside during such a special time. These words from a recent client truly touched my heart 😭😭🥰

“Amanda was an absolute blessing throughout our entire birth journey. From the very beginning, during our prenatal visits, she was a wealth of knowledge, helping us prepare for birth in a way that felt both empowering and reassuring...

After going to 41 weeks and 5 days, I decided to be induced—a change in plan that could have felt overwhelming. But Amanda remained so positive and encouraging, reminding us that while the journey might shift, the destination would remain the same. That mantra stayed with me throughout my labor.

Even when labor wasn’t progressing, leading to an informed and non-emergent belly birth, I still felt completely empowered, thanks to Amanda’s unwavering support.

Her care didn’t end there. The follow-up visit at our home was just as wonderful. She took the time to reflect on our experience together and offered invaluable breastfeeding tips and tricks. Amanda has such a warm and calming spirit—it truly felt like we had known her forever.”

If you’re looking for gentle, compassionate support in your birth + postpartum journey, I’d love to chat 🤗

Committing to sharing more of my doula journey in 2025—here goes. January was a whirlwind of joy and triumph. I supported two first-time moms through birth: one powered through a long induction at 41+5 before a beautifully unexpected cesarean, and the other stood on the bed welcoming her 9 lb. 6 oz. son completely unmedicated and captured on FaceTime for his deployed Navy dad. I also spent 90+ hours in daytime and overnight postpartum support, nurturing families as they grew. This work is challenging, but I’ll keep saying it until it’s not true: my heart overflows with gratitude. So! Here are handful of my most precious moments from January 2025 🤍

✨ If you’re expecting and looking for birth or postpartum support, my calendar is open April forward! Let’s chat about how I can support your family 🙏🏼Find info at the link in my bio or via DMs 😍

I hope today you’re overflowing with gratitude. I know I am. Nearly every day this past year, I’ve had the joy of doing the work I love—supporting families during one of the most tender times in their lives. There simply aren’t enough words to describe the peace and purpose it brings or the overwhelming gratitude I feel for those who have trusted me on this journey.

To the families who have welcomed me into their delivery rooms and/or homes, and to those who have lifted me with encouragement and love to go for it: thank you. Your trust and support have meant everything 💛 Here’s to the beauty of following your heart into the wild, wonderful unknown.

continues to impress. Their approach to women-centered care, shared decision-making and honoring each family’s unique journey is a perfect harmony to what so many of the families I support are looking for. It’s truly inspiring to be part of a care team that nurtures autonomy, compassion, and respect every step of the way. Together, we create a supportive environment where families can truly thrive ✨🙏🏼

“You are the best thing, that’s ever been mine.” -Taylor Swift 🫶🏻

This lyric is obviously about a love interest, but I like to think it’s also about holding our loved ones close and having trust and faith in them.

From the very first meeting with Kristyn, I could feel how much it meant to her to have an unmedicated birth. During our home sessions she and her husband Shane were so attentive and curious, learning about physiological birth and coping techniques for labor.

When the time came at 40+4, Kristyn progressed beautifully. She was strong, steady and unwavering. When her birthing took a few unexpected turns, she gave herself grace and remained flexible. She overcame each and every hurdle as a result. The look in her eyes coming down from each contraction was one of conviction but also peace and acceptance. It truly was magical to see this woman fully step into her power with faith and trust in her body and her baby.

After dayssss of early labor and 29 hours of active hands-on doula support, Giulia Janette arrived!! Healthy and no longer 40+4 but officially 40+6, this 7lbs 6lbs peanut was right on time. On time not only for HER birthday, but also her great grandma’s! Like it seems to do it turned out just the way it was supposed to. Great Grandma is also Janette... Baby Giulia’s planned namesake and now official birthday twin.

It was an honor to support this sweet family and help this mama achieve her desired birth. I enjoyed every sleepless minute slow dancing, singing and swaying through each Taylor era with you

💕💕I am in love with postpartum visits these days… meeting a family wherever they are at in their transition. It looks different for everyone and that is to be expected.

Neither pregnancy nor delivery were the easiest for this mama yet after our debrief I know she is walking into motherhood feeling empowered and resilient. The only wishes I have for my clients and we got both!

Plus she and I were treated to an amazing luncheon prepared by Daddy/Anton and Babushka/Irina. Delicious minced meat dumplings, the most amazing broth with a Prosecco toast to a healthy Baby Mia and Mama Vita 🥂

And last but not least …snuggling with my doula baby twin 💕💕💕

🌕✨FULL MOON ready ✨🌕
Tonight 6.21.24, after the longest day of the year, look to the sky for the June full moon, aka the Strawberry Moon.

Why does a doula follow the moon? Well, humans are more than 60% water and it’s well known moon cycles affect the tides. So, it makes sense that they could affect us too! During a full moon, researchers have found that we produce:
🌕 Higher levels of stress hormone cortisol
🌕 Higher levels of serotonin, which may trigger mood changes
🌕 Lower levels of sleep hormone melatonin

Full moons also affect our zzz’s sometimes causing sleep disturbances like...
😴 Struggling to drift off
💤 Shallower, less restful sleep
🥱 Overall decrease in sleep duration

For pregnancy 🤰🫄🫃we often associate a full moon with going into labor. One study found a 14.7% increase in deliveries during a full moon over the course of a year and another showed a positive correlation between the onset of labor and a full moon when barometric pressure was not controlled. However, most have found no connection between the lunar cycle and births, but a beautiful night sky with changes in pressure afoot nonetheless is a perfect combination for birth in my experience ✨

Have you noticed any changes during full moons? SHARE with me in the comments and FOLLOW for more tips, tools, and inspiration as you prepare for your birth and parenthood journey.

“Scars have the strange power to remind us that our past is real.” -Cormac McCarthy ⚡️

I say it ALL. THE. TIME. Every body, every pregnancy is different… vaginal, medicated, instrumental delivery, csection...it does not matter to me how you birth your baby, just that you are given respect, dignity and autonomy to do so.

spent her pregnancy on pins and needles. Literally. From an IVF conception to an emergency appendectomy in the second trimester, she spent a lot of time in pain. As a doula, I am blessed to witness mothers pushing themselves to their own personal brink to transform and become a new version of themselves. In birth as in life, there is no easy way out. It is all freakin hard. It is the most difficult, challenging, intense event. Period.

Just as she had done to conceive and carry this child safely, Erika welcomed her precious 8lbs11oz baby girl under the bright lights of an OR table. Ready to meet the moment of precious new life, Erika chose her hard and I could not be more proud or more elated for this family.

Erika, may the scar from where she was born along with those from the countless injections and your appendix always remind you of your bravery, strength and tenacity to become a mother. Klara Kristina is so very lucky she has THIS version of you and Justin as her parents. Congratulations!!

✨ “Birth takes a woman’s deepest fears about herself and shows her that she is stronger” – Unknown

I am so happy listened to her intuition saying she could have a different experience than what society views as normal in childbirth. During prenatals, I talk ALOT with families about the nuance in birth so that they feel free to choose what’s best for them after looking at the facts. At every step, Amanda and her loving hubby made decisions for their daughter together. Even when plans changed and induction was required and Amanda got an epidural, she did so on her terms and when she was ready for it. Epidurals are tools in birth just like an inflatable pool or TENS and using them can be a key to a satisfying birth. Any birth can look picture perfect in a single shot but this one was beautiful at every angle because this mother felt safe and respected the entire time…

Thank you for welcoming me into your sacred space 🙏🏼 and congratulations on your gorgeous Olivia 💗

The next time you find yourself, catching feelings, know that it’s not a weakness! It’s a testament to your incredible strength as a mother. You see, during pregnancy your emotional landscape shifts.

❤️Your heart feels things on a deeper plane, and this increased sensitivity that we often lament is actually an incredible superpower

🤰You will connect with your baby in ways you never thought possible.

🧘‍♀️You will be more in tune with yourself and be able to feel the things that need to be felt.

💪🏼You will find strength to face fears or trauma you may have had.

✨And your heightened sensibility will also help you make decisions that align with your family’s needs and your own.

🔦 It’s like a built-in flashlight guiding each step you take toward choices that resonate with the deepest desires of your heart.

During pregnancy, your innate intuition grows more powerful than it was before. As a Doula, my role is to help you listen to this inner knowing. Allowing you to navigate this experience with confidence.

So, the next time you feel emotions rising, know that it’s far from a negative thing. In fact, they are wildly important!
