It’s a cute coincidence that Earth Day falls during Stress Awareness Month… but also, maybe not a coincidence at all.
Because if there’s one place we instinctively go when we’re overwhelmed, dysregulated, or just plain tired… it’s outside.
Not to fix anything.
Not to optimize anything.
Just to be.
And science backs what we already know in our bodies. Time in nature lowers cortisol, supports nervous system regulation, improves mood, and even helps balance hormones. A walk, fresh air, sunlight on your skin… these aren’t luxuries. They’re baseline needs we’ve drifted away from.
Somewhere along the way, we started treating nature like something optional. Something to visit when we have time. Something we need to protect.
And yes, we should protect her… but also…
the truth is, the earth doesn’t need us.
We need her.
She continues to rise, set, bloom, shift, and cycle with or without our awareness. The question is whether we’re paying attention enough to receive what she’s constantly offering.
So instead of overcomplicating it, here are a few simple ways to come back:
* Take your morning coffee outside… even for 5 minutes
* Go for a walk without headphones and actually listen
* Put your feet in the grass (yes, really)
* Watch a sunrise or sunset this week
* Open your windows and let the air move through your space
Small things. Big impact.
If you’re craving something a little deeper, this is exactly why I created our One Day Summer Solstice Retreat on June 21.
We’ll begin with sunrise yoga at the lake, move into a walking meditation, then head back to the studio for breakfast, a lymph + fascia reset, a creative flower + art project, and close with a sound bath and meditation.
It’s a full day designed to reconnect you… not just to yourself, but to the rhythms of the season and the natural world around you.
Set a date with nature.
