UPDATE 8/2 FROM RACHEL:
This morning, I woke up feeling emotionally drained, but the visit from my brother, sister-in-law, nieces, and a few of my mat carriers from the discipleship group brought a wonderful lift to my spirits.
My mat carriers, along with my mom, mother-in-law, and Trevor, performed a powerful anointing prayer over me, which filled me with spiritual energy and alleviated my emotional heaviness.
I didn’t have dialysis today, but there’s a possibility tomorrow as I prepare for kidney stone removal on Monday.
Today’s occupational therapy session was a success! I stood five times for about 10-15 seconds each—an achievement worth celebrating! 🎉🎉🎉
My mother and stepmother brightened my window with decorations, instantly dispelling the dark feelings. As they worked, Trevor, my father, and stepfather engaged in a comical game of popdarts, adding even more joy to the moment.
UPDATE 8/1 FROM RACHEL HERSELF 🎉
Got a great nights sleep and feeling very well rested this morning and not as puny.
Felt so good I got my first coffee and ate my first full breakfast. ☕☀️❤️
Woke up feeling great but through the day have a cognitive and physical decline due to the need of dialysis, which I'm now receiving.
The urologist came in and one of her PAs said someone from her prayer circle at CoE22 told her that they were praying for me and found out she was my doctor and told her we are praying for Rachel take good care of her!!!!
She said “oh my gosh, I'm trying, the Lord is watching”
As long as my infection continues to decline I’m scheduled for stone removal Monday. If not Monday then next Friday.
No PT with therapist today but Trevor is here to help me do PT when I’m feeling up to it or need it! I stood for 15 secs yesterday. 🙌🏻
UPDATE 7/29 12:00 PM: Yesterday Rachel was moved from ICU into a "progressive care" room, which is the step before being in a normal room! She has made so much progress in the last few days, but she still has a long road to recovery ahead. She is awake and more alert, although still experiencing some confusion. Her white blood cell count is improving and her body is responding well to the current antibiotics. She is still experiencing pain and discomfort, which is expected after all she's been through. She will not receive dialysis today, so please pray for full kidney function to be restored. She should receive visits from speech therapy and physical therapy today as well. THANK YOU for all your prayers! Please continue to pray for strength for Rachel as her body continues to fight, and for her family who is caring around the clock for her.
Many of you are asking how you can help Rachel and Trevor, or how you can support her family. Currently Trevor is staying at the hospital with Rachel, and her mother, Lisa, is there every day from morning to night, not to mention other immediate family members who are in and out constantly. There is a Starbucks located in the hospital that has served as a dependable source of food and coffee for them. We are accepting Starbucks gift cards for the family at Voyage Chiropractic during normal operating hours, OR we have also started a Starbucks gift card for them. If you would like to donate to the card, you can Venmo Dr. David (-J-Knott) and we will personally add the funds to their account. Once again, thank you for the way you all have loved and supported Rachel and everyone who is taking such great care of her. We will update here as often as we can.
UPDATE 7/26 5:00 PM: Today has been a much different day, praise God! Rachel is tolerating dialysis and her numbers are improving. They have started a trickle feed through the NG tube. And Rachel has been somewhat alert, recognizing people, and attempting to communicate! She is far from out of the woods, but we are so thankful for the progress made. God hears our prayers 🙌🏻 THANK YOU for every single prayer and show of support. The family is extremely grateful ❤️
Voyage Family, we have an urgent prayer request! 🙏
Rachel, our Head Chiropractic Assistant, is in critical condition in ICU. She is suffering from septic shock and has been hospitalized since Tuesday. She is fighting so hard, but overnight she started declining. Please, say a prayer for her right now! Please continue praying as often as you think about our dear Rachel.
Rachel has been the heart of Voyage for many years with her warm smile, helpful spirit, her drive to serve, and her incredible laugh that could fill any room. She has hugged you, cried with you, prayed for you, celebrated you, and held your babies while you got adjusted. She has done so many things to serve her team and practice members outside of the office that many will never know about, and the way she cares for people is unmatched. Now Rachel is in the fight of her life and she needs your support. Will you please join us in lifting her up in constant prayer? She needs your prayers more than anything.
Many of you have already asked us how you can help, or what you can do. We have created a GoFundMe page for Rachel to help her and her brand new husband, Trevor, navigate the unexpected and mounting expenses of an acute illness and extended hospital stay. As many of you know, Rachel got married last month on June 14th and was just getting settled into married life. Trevor is devoted to staying by her side and he is doing an incredible job of walking out his vows of "in sickness and in health". Anything you are able to give would be a huge blessing to this incredible couple.
