I made a surprise visit to the midwifery school where my journey began nearly 17 years ago to bring flowers and gifts to some of my beloved midwife friends and classmates (the newest and bestest Executive Director of FSTM!) so proud of her! (Pictured right)

Abi the midwife and instructor who was one of my loving preceptors ❤️ and my students who you know and love and Kaaliyah ❤️ It filled my heart to visit my roots and be around the women who were beside me during what felt like an impossible journey. We did it, we are serving our communities and nourishing future generations of midwives! I’m humbled to be beside such incredible and selfless midwives. ( previous owner of B&WCOG, FSTM instructor, preceptor and our biller) joined us for dinner and I cherish every moment with her ❤️

Happy Midwife Day! Today, May 5th, is International Day of the Midwife, a time to celebrate and recognize the vital role midwives play in providing care to mothers, newborns, and families, especially during challenging times. Midwives are critical in ensuring access to safe births, maternal and newborn health services, and even during humanitarian crises.
Here’s why Midwife Day is important:
Celebrating Midwives:
It’s a day to acknowledge the dedication, expertise, and compassion of midwives who work tirelessly to support women and families throughout their reproductive journey.
Raising Awareness:
Midwife Day helps raise awareness about the importance of midwifery in promoting maternal and newborn health and well-being.
Recognizing Their Role:
Midwives play a crucial role in providing essential sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (SRMNCAH) services, especially in vulnerable communities and during crises.
Advocacy and Action:
The day encourages advocacy for midwives, who are often underutilized and underfunded in many parts of the world.
