Congrats to our JUNE 2025 'Beacon of Light' Anastasia Kuhles, RBT, RMHI!
Every month, Beacon identifies a 'Beacon of Light'... a therapist of the month that possesses clinical, professional, and/or personal attributes that exemplify Beacon Pediatric. This therapist is chosen based on performance data and observations, but even more importantly, they are selected based on input from their colleagues and supervisors, and when available, feedback from clients.
Please join us in recognizing our 'Beacon of Light' for June 2025 – Anastasia Kuhles, RBT, RMHI!
-What is your name?
My name is Anastasia Kuhles.
-How long have you been at Beacon?
I actually just hit my 6 year mark with Beacon!
-What is your role at Beacon?
I am a Registered Behavioral Technician and a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern (that’s almost fully done with the internship!)
-What led you into the field of behavioral health?
I had always had a fascination with psychology and some time after completing my bachelors degree, a friend from the psychology department recommended I give ABA a shot. She recommended working at BPBH and it was such a good fit! I was able to even get through grad school while working here and now I get to meld mental health and ABA on a daily basis!
-What is your favorite part of the work that you do?
For me, I love that I get to come to work every day and watch the progress each child makes with not only the evidence-based practices provided, but the love and humanity that is provided by each of us! Working yourself out of a job when your client progresses is bittersweet but so rewarding.
-Tell us about an interesting, exciting, surprising, or memorable experience/event you have had in your life and why it was so special to you!
My most memorable experience was during a trip to Europe. I was in Austria and we were visiting Mauthausen (a WII N**i concentration camp) and then met with a survivor of the Holocaust. It had to be one of the most humbling and life changing experiences. I’ll never forget when they were asked if they were still angry with the N**is at the camp and he said he forgave them ages ago because he knew they were protecting themselves and their family by going along with everything. He said he couldn’t blame them for that because he’d do the same to protect his own family if he were in the same position.
-What do you hope for yourself / where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
I plan on looking back at this time of my life and smiling about the whole journey while enjoying the fruits of my labor and continuing to impact my community in any way it will allow. I love what I do!
