I feel like it can be easy to get caught up in “the work” of healing and growing: reading all the self-help books, immersing yourself in an intense yoga practice, going to therapy, and more.
A part of the work that is often forgotten about is experiencing joy.
Last week, I went to Alpaca Yoga, and I didn’t sign up for the Yoga if I’m being honest, I really just wanted to feed and love on some fuzzy, goofy, sweet and sassy animals.
While the yoga with North Jax Fitness was great (check them out!), the ALPACAS y’all😍
As you may notice, that’s a candid face of someone who is present and loving it!
In case you needed a reminder, like I sometimes do, make sure you create time for fun and joy too. 🤸🤸🏽‍♀️
(And go support this lovely volunteer-led farm and rescue -Shady Rest Alpacas 🦙)

When I first started yoga, I was living my life with a lot of fear from trauma.
I had a kind teacher at Centred on Yoga who encouraged me to try crow pose while grounded, giving my body and mind time to prepare before flying.
I started this shape with both feet and hands planted firmly, then moved to balancing on my toes, eventually one foot lifted, then both feet for a second. The first time I lifted both feet, I looked back instead of keeping my gaze in front and fell on my face, skidding across my mat (my forehead had mat burn 😅). How many sayings are there about looking back instead of forward?!
I tried again and again, looking forward, trusting my body and myself for maybe the first time in my life, and now, I do so without fear.
I share yoga because of the power we hold within to heal, to grow, to find strength and courage, and to compassionately connect with ourselves and others.

The last couple of weeks have been stressful, y’all!
Last week, I was in the middle of and thinking about all the things, including how expensive my groceries were going to be 😅, when I spotted these 🌸All my ruminating and stressing paused for a moment, just long enough for and to sneak in. See if you can take a moment to pause, admire the goodness that IS present, even when it doesn’t feel like it. The flowers have since lost their petals, but the reminder has stuck around to make space for it all, especially the beauty, and to not let the tough stuff be all consuming.

Before I left for my trip, I asked a very talented friend who knows me better than maybe anyone, to consider helping to create a logo for my business. My first day back, she came in hot with this. It’s perfect 😍
Thank you for the love and thought you put into all you do!

Sharing my favorite meditation for the weekend:

🫖☕️Tea meditation ☕️🫖

Note that this can be done with other hot beverages too! I found presence and mindfulness while preparing my new fave, a Ryze mushroom matcha with whipped coconut milk and honey in my most loved cup from one of the best vegetarian/vegan restaurants in North Florida, Buena Onda (IMO)

1. Choose your tea or other hot beverage option by smelling or listening to your intuition.
2. Boil the water either in a pot, kettle or other device. Listen to the sound of the water.
3. As you pour the water, use your sight and smell to watch the color and maybe even texture change and notice the aroma of the tea as it steeps.
4. Find somewhere as free of distractions as possible to be fully present in the experience.
5. Place both hands on either side of the cup and feel the warmth in your hands, maybe the warmth even moves to your heart as you take this moment to care for yourself.
6. Take your first sip, savor the flavors.
7. After you finish, reflect on your experience and see if you can carry this peace with you.

If you try or have tried this, please share how you feel after.
