The Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter was founded May 24, 1969. Our chapter embraces sisters from a variety of collegiate chapters across the country. We are single, independent women, wives, mothers and grandmothers, sisters, and friends. Our members are business owners, educators, corporate leaders, graduate students and stay at home moms. While our ages and backgrounds differ, we certainly always lo
ok forward to our times together! We are so proud of our chapter’s and our members’ accomplishments- our membership includes several past and present National Officers, Certificate of Merit and Honor Ring recipients. We are consistently a Crown Chapter winner at Convention! Many of our members also belong to the Jacksonville Alumnae Panhellenic Association (JAPA), where we’ve held several past and present leadership roles. Our monthly events strive to appeal to everyone but must contain one requirement: ZTA fun! During our monthly gatherings we cultivate friendships and network, provide service to the community and/or raise funds. We’ve painted pottery, visited our local museums, hosted wine tastings, gone on picnics, had fiestas at local restaurants and fought over ornaments at our annual Christmas ornament exchange. We’ve expanded our knowledge and awareness by hosting guest speakers on finance and investments and surviving breast cancer. Service to others is a large part of our chapter calendar. Each Fall we staff the Survivors Tent at our local Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and participate in our national partnership with the NFL by passing out pink ribbons at a Jacksonville Jaguars game. Our monthly gatherings often include a service theme: we’ve collected items for the Jacksonville Humane Society, collected clothes for Katlin’s Closet, served dinner at the Ronald McDonald House, decorated for Christmas at Hubbard House and much more. Raising funds for the ZTA Foundation is truly important to us. ZTAF is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization with a mission of providing scholarships, developing leaders among college women, and increasing breast cancer awareness. Fundraising events we have held include the “THINKPINK!®” Marketplace and “Letters from Santa”, with proceeds going toward our ZTAF Recognition Scholarship. We love our collegiate sisters at Theta Iota Chapter! In addition to providing a full advisory board, we plan many activities to involve them. We celebrate Founders’ Day together each October and in the Spring we meet to decorate Easter eggs for the patients at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. We strive to set the example that Zeta Tau Alpha is FOREVER!
