May 10–16 marks National Women’s Health Week, a time to prioritize the health and well-being of women and girls. This week also highlights the importance of HIV prevention, testing, and care for women in our community.

Women account for a significant portion of new HIV diagnoses, making routine testing, access to care, and open conversations about sexual health essential. Empowering women with knowledge and resources helps reduce stigma and improve health outcomes.

UF CARES is committed to supporting women’s health through education, prevention, and compassionate care.

Stress Awareness Month

April is Stress Awareness Month—a time to recognize the impact stress can have on our overall health and well-being. Managing stress is essential, as it can affect both physical health and engagement in care.

Here are practical, evidence-based strategies to help manage stress:

• Establish a routine to maintain structure and stability
• Practice deep breathing and mindfulness
• Stay physically active through walking, stretching, or light exercise
• Prioritize consistent, quality sleep
• Stay connected with supportive friends, family, or peers
• Seek professional support when needed

Taking small steps each day can make a meaningful difference in overall wellness.

Today we observe World Health Day 2026, which calls on people everywhere to stand with science. The campaign spotlights both scientific achievements and the multilateral cooperation needed to turn evidence into action – through a strong focus on the One Health approach.

Your health is your greatest wealth! Prioritize well being, healthy choices, and access to care.

March 20 is National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NNHAAD) — a day dedicated to raising awareness about the disproportionate impact of HIV in American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian communities.

Organized by the National Native HIV Network, this observance highlights the importance of education, prevention, testing, and culturally responsive care.

At UF CARES, we remain committed to advancing health equity, reducing stigma, and ensuring all communities have access to compassionate, quality HIV care and support services.

Together, we can make a difference.
