Volunteers in Medicine, Jacksonville (VIM-Jax) Providing FREE outpatient primary and specialty medical services to Greater Jacksonville’s WORKING uninsured

Our success can be directly attributed to the passion and commitment of more than 230 ACTIVE VOLUNTEER healthcare and non-clinical professionals that perform a wide array of services at our downtown clinic five days a week. These volunteer professionals qualify patients, manage medical records and deliver vital preventative medical care to our patients. On-site program specialties include mental h

ealth counseling, vision and eye care, cardiology and heart disease prevention and maintenance, diabetes and nutrition counseling. Volunteers in Medicine’s signature “Healthy Habits” programs include regular patient wellness events and activities including blood pressure and glucose screenings, mammograms, stress tests, and “Healthy Habits” neighborhood walks.

💚 Some people change lives loudly. Others do it quietly, gently, and consistently every single day. Sally Anderson is one of those people. 💚

Volunteers in Medicine is beyond proud to celebrate our very own Sally (Sara) Anderson as she is recognized as an “Unsung Hero” at the Step-by-Step 4 Help Foundation Shades of Green Mental Health Excellence Awards Gala on:

If you know Sally, then you know her heart. You know the way she shows up for people, the calm she brings into difficult moments, the compassion she gives so freely, and the safe space she creates for so many. Her impact cannot be measured by titles or words alone — it is felt deeply by the people and lives she touches every day.

At Volunteers in Medicine, we are incredibly fortunate to witness that kindness, strength, and dedication firsthand. This recognition is so deserved, and we could not be more proud to celebrate her and the meaningful work she continues to do for mental health awareness and our community. 💚✨

We invite our community to join us in celebrating Sally and supporting the incredible mission of the Step-by-Step 4 Help Foundation.

💙 To Our Nurses at Volunteers in Medicine… 💙

Where would we be without you?

Every day, you walk through our doors carrying not only medical knowledge and skill, but compassion, patience, comfort, and hope. You hold hands during difficult moments. You calm fears without even realizing it. You listen when someone feels unheard. You show up for our patients with grace, even on the hardest days.

At Volunteers in Medicine, our nurses are more than caregivers. You are protectors, encouragers, healers, and the heartbeat behind so many of the lives we touch.

Many of our patients come to us during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, and somehow you always know how to make them feel seen, safe, and cared for. That kind of love cannot be taught in a textbook. It comes from the heart.

This Nurse Appreciation Week, we simply want to say thank you. Thank you for every long day, every comforting word, every act of kindness, every sacrifice, and every moment you pour into this mission.

Because of you, our patients are reminded that they matter. Because of you, our community is healthier, stronger, and filled with more hope.

We are endlessly grateful for each and every one of you. 💙

🎉🩺 HAPPY NURSES WEEK TO OUR AMAZING VIM NURSES! 🩺🎉

Today kicks off a very special week where we celebrate the superheroes in scrubs who somehow manage to do it ALL with compassion, patience, skill… and probably not enough coffee. ☕💙

From comforting patients and keeping things running smoothly to being the calm in the chaos, our nurses are truly the heart of care at Volunteers in Medicine. We appreciate every blood pressure check, every reassuring smile, every encouraging word, and every moment you pour into caring for others.

✨Fun Fact!✨
National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6 because it’s the birthday of Florence Nightingale — the founder of modern nursing! She was known as “The Lady with the Lamp” because she cared for patients late into the night carrying a lamp through hospital halls. 🕯️

And trust us… our VIM nurses continue that same light every single day. 💙

This is ONLY the beginning because we’ll be celebrating our incredible nurses all week long! 🎉

👇 Help us kick off Nurses Week by showing our VIM nurses some love in the comments!
Drop a 💙, share a thank you, or tag a nurse who deserves all the appreciation this week!

✨What happens when you put 120+ VIM volunteers in one room?✨

A whole lot of laughter, hugs, unforgettable stories… and probably enough heart to light up all of Jacksonville. 💙

Last week at The River Club, we celebrated the true lifeline of Volunteers in Medicine — our volunteers. From providers and nurses to outreach teams, front desk support, and everyone in between, these amazing humans are the reason VIM continues to serve the working uninsured with compassion and care every single day.

The night was filled with joy, appreciation, and the kind of energy that reminds us why the VIM family is so special. 🥂✨ We laughed, we reflected, we celebrated, and yes… we definitely had the BEST time honoring the people who give so much of themselves to others.

To our volunteers: thank you for being the heartbeat, the hands, and the heart of VIM. We love celebrating you because you deserve it and so much more. 💙

Quitting isn’t just about stopping a habit—it’s about starting a new chapter. 💙

And let’s be real… it’s a lot easier when you have people in your corner.

That’s what this is.
A space to talk, to learn, to try again if needed—and to keep going.

No pressure. No judgment. Just support.

If you’ve been thinking about quitting, this could be your moment.

They don’t do it for recognition.
They don’t do it for applause.

They show up…
On busy mornings. After long shifts. In between life’s responsibilities.

They show up for people they may never know—
and somehow, leave a lasting impact that can never be forgotten.

At Volunteers in Medicine, our volunteers are more than helpers…
They are the quiet comfort in a patient’s hardest moment.
The laughter in the hallways.
The steady hands. The listening ears. The reason hope walks through our doors every single day.

This week may be coming to a close…
but what you give? That lives on far beyond today.

Because of you—
💙 A patient feels seen
💙 A family finds relief
💙 A life changes direction

And honestly… there are no words big enough to hold the gratitude we feel.

So instead, we’ll say this—
We see you. We appreciate you. We are forever better because of you.

With full hearts… thank you for being the soul of VIM. 💙
