Today we wear purple to show military-connected children they are seen, supported, and valued.

These kids show incredible strength and resilience wherever they go. Whether military life is temporary or part of their entire childhood, they deserve to feel the support of their community.

Healing doesn’t mean moving on, it means learning to carry what you’ve lost without letting it carry you.

Grief has a way of showing up when you least expect it.

It’s not always loud.
Sometimes it’s quiet.
A random moment.
A memory that hits out of nowhere.
A wave you didn’t see coming.

And right now, a lot of people are carrying it… silently.

Grief isn’t just about losing a person.
It can be the loss of who you used to be.
A relationship.
A version of life you thought you’d have.

There’s no “right” way to grieve.
Some days you might feel okay.
Other days it feels heavy all over again.

Both can exist at the same time.

If you’re grieving, you’re not behind.
You’re not doing it wrong.
You’re human.

If you feel comfortable, share what grief has been like for you. You never know who might feel less alone reading your words.

Not all self-care is actually helping you… and that’s a hard pill to swallow.

Sometimes what feels like “protecting your peace” is really avoiding what needs your attention. Real self-care can be uncomfortable, challenging, and even a little messy—but that’s often where growth happens.

So what do you think… should self-care feel good all the time? Or can it be hard too? 👀 Drop your thoughts below.

Feeling like things are piling up? Early signs of emotional overwhelm can be subtle: changes in sleep or appetite, persistent fatigue, irritability, withdrawing from others, trouble concentrating, or losing interest in once-loved activities. If you notice these in yourself, a teen, or a colleague, reaching out early can make a real difference. Try simple conversation starters: “I’ve noticed you seem quieter lately—are you okay?” “I’m worried about you and want to listen—what’s been happening?” or “Would you like help finding someone to talk to?” Use “I” statements, stay curious, and offer to connect them to care. Trauma-informed, client-centered support meets people where they are and tailors next steps—whether individual therapy, family sessions, teen counseling, or employer-focused training. Early connection and telehealth options can prevent escalation and ease access for Jacksonville, NC; North Carolina; Oregon; and South Carolina communities. You don’t have to navigate this alone. Visit https://wix.to/rQgAY8G to learn more and schedule a compassionate, confidential conversation.

Feeling overwhelmed by sudden anxious moments? You can start small and feel steadier fast. Try these three evidence-informed micro-strategies: 1) Grounding — name five things you can see, four you can touch; this brings you back to the present. 2) Breath pacing — slow your exhale for a count of four to calm your nervous system. 3) Brief cognitive reframes — gently question one “what if” thought and replace it with a more balanced option. These practices translate easily into telehealth sessions where a trauma-informed therapist helps you adapt them to daily life. People often report less overwhelm and better sleep after practicing these skills. We offer compassionate remote care across Jacksonville, NC; North Carolina; Oregon; and South Carolina — and a free consultation if you want a low-risk next step. Ready to try it? Does anything else need to be said? We're all rushing towards the next thing, the next meeting, the next shift, the next errand. Sometimes slowing down and making time for ourselves makes us feel guilty when there's so much else to do. I'm here to tell you to not think of rest in that way.
You not only need to recharge and recuperate, you deserve it!

💬 Have you ever felt like people depend on your strength, but don’t check in on you?

🧠 If this resonates, talking with a therapist or someone you trust can help you feel seen and supported.

“Many trauma survivors become the ‘strong one’ in their families or friend groups, which often means no one checks on them. Have you ever felt like people rely on your strength but rarely ask how you’re really doing?”
