Pose of the Day: Wide-Legged Forward Fold (Prasarita Padottanasana)

Today’s skeleton is getting grounded and stretching it out with one of yoga’s most soothing poses — the Wide-Legged Forward Fold! This pose invites you to slow down, release tension, and let gravity do the work.

🌿 Benefits:
• Lengthens the spine and stretches the hamstrings
• Calms the nervous system and quiets the mind
• Encourages balance and grounding energy
• Gently improves flexibility in the hips and legs

🧘‍♀️ Try it yourself:
Stand tall with your feet wide and parallel, hinge at your hips (not your waist), and fold forward while keeping your spine long. Let your crown of the head melt toward the floor and your breath flow smoothly.

This year we will be part of the Murray Hill Yard Decorating contest- so we wanted to incorporate yoga poses and education into it. We began with a wonderful foundational pose- Tadasana or Mountain Pose that will inspire us to reach new heights.

Honoring Jane Goodall (1934–2025)

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jane Goodall at the age of 91. A true messenger for the Earth, she dedicated her life to showing us the deep connections between humans, animals, and the natural world.

Through her research, her writings, and her unwavering activism, Jane reminded us that:
🌱 Compassion begins with truly seeing others — human and more-than-human alike.
🌱 Presence and patience are powerful tools for healing and change.
🌱 Hope is active — every choice we make ripples outward.
🌱 We are all part of an interconnected web of life.

Jane taught us how to be human again.
Her words will continue to inspire:

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”

Looking for a unique way to connect, unwind, and move together? Join us for a special Couples Stretching Class this Wednesday, October 1 from 7:30–9:00 PM at Holding Space Yoga & Therapy.
