Checking in from the middle of the storm, Jacksonville! ⛈️☔️

We’re right in the peak of today’s Weather Authority Alert window. The rain is coming down heavy, which is fantastic for our local wildfires (still holding at 45% containment), but it’s making the roads very slick.

A quick update on how we’re doing:
💡 Power Check: Despite the 40-60 mph wind gusts, JEA is holding strong with NO major power outages reported! 🙌
🚗 Traffic Check: Between the rain and the planned Buckman Bridge (southbound) lane closures, it’s a slow crawl out there. Following those tragic crashes early this morning on Beach Blvd and I-95, please take it slow and give yourself plenty of space.
🏠 Stay Safe: The heaviest rain should start tapering off after 5 PM, so if you can stay in and stay dry, that’s the best plan!

Grab some popcorn, stay off the roads if you can, and enjoy the "answered prayer" rain! 🍿🌧️

Good news, Jacksonville! 🌧️ Major rain is on the way this weekend, bringing some much-needed relief to our local drought and helping contain those wildfires.

While we wait for the showers, keep an eye out for smoke on the roads today. Also, a quick safety tip: Duval school bus cameras are now issuing $225 fines for illegal passing: let’s keep the kids safe!

If you’re heading out this weekend, remember the Vilano Bridge Run is Saturday morning, so expect some local traffic around that area. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and enjoy the cooler temps coming our way! 🙌

Heads up, Jacksonville! Major traffic alert: I-95 is currently shut down in both directions near mile marker 321 (International Golf Pkwy) due to a police investigation. Expect heavy delays and find an alternate route!

It’s a scorcher out there with temps in the upper 90s. Stay hydrated and watch your car’s temp gauge to avoid a breakdown. Also, watch for wildfire smoke haze if you’re heading toward Waycross or Lake City. The good news? We have an 80% chance of rain this Saturday to help with the drought!

Traffic Alert: I-295 SB at Wilson Blvd is still facing heavy delays following this morning's tragic crash. Please find an alternate route if possible. US-17 in Orange Park also remains slow due to lane blockers. Fortunately, I-10 EB at Chaffee and I-295 near New Kings Road are currently moving smoothly.

Visibility & Air Quality: If things look a bit hazy, it’s because of smoke from regional wildfires. Air quality is currently "unhealthy" for some groups, so keep your car windows up and use your AC recirculation setting. Fire risk remains extreme until we get some rain later this week.

Jacksonville traffic check for 11:00 AM! If you are heading Eastbound on I-10, heads up: the road is still CLOSED at Chaffee Road due to an ongoing crash investigation. Detours are in place via Chaffee Road to Hammond Blvd.

We are also seeing residual heavy traffic on I-295 Southbound near Wilson Blvd, but the good news is that I-295 near New Kings Road has cleared and is flowing normally. It is going to be a sunny and warm afternoon, but please stay vigilant as there is a high fire risk in the area this week.
