Talking about cancer is uncomfortable.
Not talking about it can be costly. 💜
We aren’t raised to ask our moms about bleeding, pain, or the last time they saw a doctor. We’re taught to “stay positive,” change the subject, and hope it’s nothing. But silence doesn’t protect us, sometimes it just delays the help we need.
Starting the conversation can mean earlier checkups, earlier detection, and more options on the table if something is wrong. And even when the outcome doesn’t change, those conversations still matter. They mean nobody is walking through confusion and fear alone.
This is your nudge:
Call your mom. Text your sister. Check in with your friend. Ask about the appointment she’s been putting off and the symptoms she keeps joking about. You don’t need perfect words, you just need the courage to care out loud.
Start the conversation.
Ask the questions.
Check on your mom before the diagnosis has a chance to speak for her.
