The FDA has now removed the black box warning on menopausal hormone therapies (MHT). This is a monumental step forward for women’s health.

In particular, vaginal estrogen therapy, that is used for dryness and discomfort from menopause, was lumped into the same category as systemic hormones and also had the black box warning. However, vaginal estrogen does not carry the same risks.

Menopausal hormone therapy is helping thousands of women and is finally being talked about more openly in the media. Let’s keep that conversation going.

MHT is not for everyone. Your doctor can review the risks and benefits and determine if you are a good candidate for treatment.

The Food and Drug Administration will remove the "black box" warning from hormone replacement therapy (HRT) products for menopause.

I am excited to announce the opening of Sievert Gynecology on January 1, 2026. I will remain at the same location as we are now, 12058 San Jose Boulevard, Suite 501, but under a new name.
