General rules for patients who have been approved to obtain medical ma*****na inthe state of Florida.
Once you have been approved by a Florida physician who has been certifed by the State to recommend Ma*****na you will need to discuss the various forms that medical ma*****na can be obtained at the dispensaries that are located throughout the state. These forms include edibles, oral, sublingual, topical, v**e suppository and smokable. Every 70 days a medical ma*****na (MMJ) patient can be approved to obtain a total of 24,500 mg of THC (TriHydroCanabinol) which is the main psychoactive compound in ma*****na. This means that you can get an average of 350 mg per day of total THC. However, there is a limit to the amount that you can get of each form such as edibles, oral etc. Each route of administration has a different total amount allowable per 70 days. This works out to 60 mg of edibles, 200 mg of oral, 190 mg of sublingual, 150mg of topicals, 350 mg of inhaled THC also called v**e, and 195 mg of THC in the form of suppositories. This means that there is not only a limit to the toal amount of THC but to the amount of each individual form. This has been confusing to some.
There is also available ma*****na in the form for smoking often referred to as "flower" where the maximum obtainable without the physician obtaining permission for an additional amounts through the use of an "exception" that the phsyician must present to the OMMU (Office of Medical Ma*****na Use.) There are also limitations that control the availability of the smokeable form as the physician and patient must go through. This inlcudes the fact that the physician must provide "Detailed proof that the patient has unsuccessfully tried unsuccessfully other routes of administration." The patient is also required to sign a physician-provided consent form acknowleding the risk of smoking. For more information you can call us at Southside Medical Center at (904) 641-4411.
