Over Labor Day weekend the Jacksonville area hosted the Bubble Run 5K race. The race consisted of a few archways that were raining bubbles throughout the back wooded area at the Equestrian Center. As Carson reported, "the humidity was high, but our spirits were higher".

Stacy, Lindsey, Sam and Carson enjoyed the fun, the exercise, and the camaraderie with fellow team members.

This photo of Samantha & Josh and Dr. Granzow & Max was taken in Palm Valley a few weeks ago. As coincidence would have it, Sam and family were in the area enjoying a summer afternoon near the water when they bumped into Dr. G and his son. Labor Day is often known as the unofficial end of summer, so we know many of you have kids back in school and looking towards, dare I say, another holiday season.

The Granzows regularly show their respect and gratitude to the team. They host regular lunches for the entire group, and this week they hosted lunch at a local Filipino restaurant in Jacksonville. It was an opportunity to taste some ethnic cuisine that not everyone had experienced previously. As you can tell by the smiles, there was good food and team spirit had by all.

Here's a great teaching tool Marcy wanted to convey to our followers:
Sometimes we need patients to take spot measurements to monitor their swelling. When we do, we have them use a retractable cloth measuring tape specifically for this purpose. Patients are then instructed to find a scar or freckle to use each time for consistency. Measurements are taken at the ankle, calf and thigh. Volumes, measured in centimeters, are taken by not having any gaps between the tape and the skin, but also by not pulling too tight. These numbers are recorded and tracked over several weeks while addressing lymphedema management, which can include activity tolerance and garment use. This helps the team manage patients from a distance.

Here's a photo of staffers Marcy, Julie S, Carson, and Lindsey recently captured at Jacksonville's Jumbo Shrimp baseball field, VyStar Park. In typical summer Florida fashion, the game eventually had to be cancelled due to inclement weather, however, these teammates had a good time checking out the stadium and enjoying each other's company outside of the normal work day.

A little baseball factoid: The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are a minor league team and Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. Their nickname or alternative identity is the Honey Drippers. However you name them, our team had fun!

A little fun recreation after work always makes for good bonding time. Team members Julie S, Carson, Lindsey and Marcy joined Cap'n Granzow for an evening boat ride down the intracoastal waterway recently. Cool breezes and "calm seas" made it a relaxing break for all.

Sam took photos of our patient Cindy on her recent follow-up visit to the office. Cindy had Granzow SAPL℠ surgery earlier this summer. She and her spouse also brought the team some delicious cookies which the team thoroughly enjoyed.
