Did you know that High Blood Pressure is the #2 cause of kidney failure in the U.S.? 🩺

At our Jacksonville Nephrology office, we focus on managing blood pressure to protect kidney function.

It’s a "Silent" Connection: Many people don't "feel" high blood pressure until damage is already done. That’s why we call it the silent teammate in kidney disease.

3 Quick Tips for the Week:

✅Check it: Know your numbers! Keep a log at home if your doctor recommends it.
✅Season Savvy: Use herbs and lemon instead of salt to keep that pressure stable.
✅Stay Active: Even a short walk (like our 3-miler on Sunday!) helps your heart and kidneys.

Questions about your BP? Ask us at your next appointment—we’re here to help you navigate the numbers!

What an incredible Sunday! 🧡 👟

Our hearts are full after standing (and walking!) together with our amazing community at the NKF Kidney Walk yesterday. Seeing the "Dream Team" in action reminds us exactly why we do what we do every day at both our Nephrology office and Dialysis unit.

The walk may be over, but the mission to empower our patients and raise awareness for kidney health continues every single day. Whether you’re managing hypertension to protect your kidneys or navigating the journey of dialysis, please know that this team is walking beside you every step of the way.

Did you snap any photos at the walk? Share them in the comments below! 📸👇

Happy National Pet Day! 🐾 Did you know that your furry best friend is actually a "paws-itive" influence on your kidney health?

High blood pressure is one of the leading causes of kidney disease, but studies show that spending just a few minutes petting a dog or cat can lower your heart rate and reduce blood pressure. 🩺❤️

When you cuddle with your pet, your body releases oxytocin (the "feel-good" hormone) and lowers cortisol (the stress hormone). A calmer heart means happier kidneys!

Happy National Siblings Day! 👫

In our clinic, we don’t just see patients—we see the incredible families who stand behind them. We often see siblings stepping up as care partners, being the "cheerleader" during long treatments, or even exploring the selfless journey of living organ donation.

Because kidney health can run in the family, today is also a great day to have a "heart-to-heart" about health history. To our patients and the siblings who walk this path beside them: Your bond is a vital part of the healing process.

The Dream Team is ready! 👟

This Sunday, April 12th, we are laced up and ready to walk in the NKF Kidney Walk. For us, these 3 miles represent so much more than a stroll through the park. They represent:

🔹 Standing Together with our patients and their families.
🔹 Empowering Others to take control of their kidney health.
🔹 Raising Awareness for a disease that affects so many right here in our community.

We would love to have you walk beside us! Whether you are a patient, a family member, or a supporter of the cause, let’s show our community the power of raising awareness together.

Hope to see you there! Let’s walk for a world without kidney disease. 🧡

17 DAYS TO GO! 🧡

We are officially in the home stretch! In just over two weeks, our team will be hitting the pavement for our 8th annual Jacksonville Kidney Walk on April 12th! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Why do we walk? Because the National Kidney Foundation does the heavy lifting for our community that we can't do alone.

Help us reach our goal before we lace up our sneakers! Every dollar helps the NKF continue to protect living donors, increase the number of transplants, expand access to home dialysis, and empower.

💚Why is Kidney Disease Called a “Silent Disease”?

Early stages of kidney disease are often asymptomatic as decline develops slowly over time. With lack of symptoms kidney disease often develops unnoticed.

💚This is why screening is essential — especially for individuals at higher risk, such as those with diabetes, high blood pressure, family history, or over 60 years of age.💚

💚 Kidney Awareness Moment 💚

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is defined as kidney damage or a decreased kidney function lasting longer than 3 months.

A key measurement used to assess kidney function is eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate). This number shows how well the kidneys are filtering waste from the blood.

CKD often develops silently, with few symptoms in the early stages. That’s why awareness, screening, and early detection are critical.

💚 During Kidney Disease Awareness Month, take a moment to learn your numbers and protect your kidney health.
