Hello everyone,

Emonie Reviere, a third-year doctoral candidate in the Counseling and Counselor Education department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with recruiting participants for her dissertation study! She identifies as a cisgender Black woman who is a passionate advocate for centering Black women’s voices. She is actively recruiting participants for her dissertation study.

Additional information about the study is:

Purpose: To understand Black women’s experiences with receiving hair messages from their mothers and understand how those hair messages show up in the workplace.

Summary: Co-researchers/participants will be asked to take new photos or select old photos to answer the prompt research questions. You will also be asked to identify themes among the group and advocacy solutions.

Time Commitment: The study will take place for 90 minutes once a week for four weeks.

Location: The focus groups will occur in recreation centers in the North Carolina Piedmont Triad Area.

At Breaking Cycles Counseling PLLC, we believe every person deserves access to healing, no matter their circumstances.

We are participating in the "Darkness to Light" program that focuses on the healing of children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 25. We are providing mental health therapy services for free through May 2026.

During times of government shutdowns, Medicaid reductions, and other societal challenges, this program helps ensure young minds receive uninterrupted mental health care without finances being a barrier.
