The Refuge

The Refuge A land-based community, organic farm and healing sanctuary in the Tuolumne River watershed. THE REFUGE PAGE.. stay tuned as these events unfold!

this page is a place for us to share our events with you, our community, and offer you the opportunity to participate in a variety of events such as music, movies, dance, workshops and more. OUR COMMITMENTS: The Refuge is an intentional community, organic farm and healing sanctuary in the Tuolumne River watershed (Jamestown, CA). Our space is a living classroom devoted to the practices of amplifying love, regenerative land stewardship, embodied creativity, decolonization, zero-waste living, sacred commerce, synarchic organization, voluntary simplicity, and conscious communication. Our actions are guided by the underlying principle of living in right relationship with Earth and the Divine. We proactively organize to navigate and address the climate catastrophe caused by the industrial growth society. This includes directing the Local Security Exchange, a local entrepreneurship incubator. We also serve as a bridge between urban communities of the Bay Area and rural communities within the foothills of the Sierras. We invite you to share in our life and practice at the Refuge. OUR REQUESTS... ..if you wish to support our mission and events, we gratefully and gladly receive your gifts in order to continue to serve you, our community...please remember that this is not only a community space but also home for those of us who live here. if you wish to visit at a time other than a public event, please message us first to find out when is a good time for a personal visit. thank you for respecting the privacy of the residents of The Refuge...please come with peace in your heart, bring only peaceful intentions and behaviors; leave anything other than those (i.e. weapons and misdirected anger) outside the gate. ..*PLEASE PARK IN THE LOWER PARKING AREA for larger events (follow the signs) and pull as far forward as possible, on a diagonal, to allow as many vehicles to fit as possible. ..PLEASE SAVE the "Reserved Parking" spot (in front of the "Casita" at the top of the driveway) for our airbnb guests. for Temple events, if you need to drop someone off (such as elders, handicapped and workshop facilitators/presentors), you can do so at the patio "loading zone" area, then park below...PLEASE ARRIVE NO EARLIER than 15 minutes before an event (unless specified differently in any event). since this is our home, we are trying to make sure to preserve our private space as much as possible...please use the Temple Entry doors (rather than our home front door) if you are coming for an event (ditto above...)...PLEASE, in honor of our goal of supporting local, organic farmers, DO YOUR BEST to bring only whole foods (i.e. no GMO, sugar, gluten, palm oil) for potlucks and/or snacks, organic tea/beverages...PLEASE HELP US BECOME PLASTIC-FREE: bring potluck items in non-plastic containers with non-plastic wrappers and TAKE HOME any items you bring with you (plastic or otherwise). THANK YOU for honoring our commitments and requests. this helps make our events flow more smoothly and honors the privacy of those living here. we really hope you can join us as we grow! with love and blessings,

🌞Join us for Community Garden and Composting Day at The Refuge.
🌱 Every Sunday 10am-1pm we will be out in the garden as a community. We would love to see new faces join us. Justine, our farm lead, loves to answer any and all of your gardening, plant, soil and/or composting questions so please come out and learn with us.

Our garden is coming alive and needs help with weeding, planting, mulching and laying/shifting compost.

We would love to send our volunteers home with extra garden veggies for all their help too so come soak up the sun rays and join in on our community garden days.

Please feel welcomed to DM us if you have any questions.

See you Sunday 🌞🌱💜

📢Workshop announcement! We will be putting on a composting and soil health 101 workshop this Saturday Nov. 2nd 12:00 p.m. . Will be raffling off some great composting items and providing a space for everyone to ask their composting and soil health questions. We are excited to be teaming up with nature's whole food Depot to make this workshop available for the community. 💚

♻️Composting your food scraps is a great way to make a big change in our community. We can help you get started with your composting goals.

👩🏽‍🌾 Justine has over 10 years of composting experience at all different levels and loves to share her knowledge with the world.

Hope to see y'all there. Feel welcome to reach out with any questions.

Hi friends, we are slowly getting back to normal after our almost year away from you all. We have welcomed a sweet baby boy to our family and are still learning the robes of going from one kiddo to two sweet little humans. The farming is still on hold right now but we hope to get things going next year.

We do have some exciting events and programs coming up 🎉

🌱We are starting a community food scraps recycling program here at The Refuge where you can bring your food scraps and we can recycle them into beautiful compost. 🌱💜

We received a grant from California Alliance for Community Composting and are happy to share that we have some great community composting initiatives in the works. Starting with the community food scraps drop off program at the farm.

Our first day open for food scraps drop off will be October 3rd 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. please come by with your food scraps and we will walk you through the process of dropping them off with us. We will be posting more information from now until then so please stay tuned and be sure to follow us so that you get all the details.

We are excited to be back 💚
