Today is Diabetes Alert Day!

Diabetes often develops without noticeable symptoms—meaning many people don’t know they have it until complications begin. That’s why getting tested is critical. Early detection gives you the opportunity to take control, start treatment, and prevent serious health issues like heart disease, kidney damage, and vision loss.

The reality:
• 1 in 4 adults with diabetes don’t know they have it
• 115+ million people are living with prediabetes
• 1.5 million people are diagnosed each year

Simple testing can identify diabetes or prediabetes early. If you are at risk or experiencing symptoms like increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, or blurred vision, do not delay care.

Connect with your primary care team to discuss testing. If you are established with our Primary Care team at Mathiesen Memorial Health Clinic contact us at 209-984-4820 - to get tested,
understand your results, and build a plan to manage your health.

With early action and the right care team, diabetes can be effectively managed and complications can be prevented or delayed.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers—yet it remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Early detection is the difference between life and death.

What you need to know:
-Colorectal cancer begins in the colon or re**um, often as small growths called polyps
-These polyps can become cancerous over time if not removed
-In early stages, there are often no symptoms

Why screening matters:
-When caught early, 9 out of 10 people survive
-As cancer progresses, survival rates drop significantly
-Screening can detect and remove polyps before they turn into cancer

Who should get screened:
-Adults 45+
-Anyone with a family history or increased risk should talk to a provider sooner

Ask about getting a colorectal screening at your next appointment.
