Big dreams on the 6th floor ✔️✔️✔️

This weekend was ALL. HANDS. ON. DECK. 🎨✨
Olivia and Lauren spent it painting, laughing, climbing ladders, and officially kicking off our move to the 6th floor! We stayed true to our signature teal because we want this new, bigger space to feel just as homey, warm, and welcoming as the place we’ve loved so much.

And yes… even our littlest helpers jumped in with paint brushes 🖌️💙 (tiny painters, big memories).

This move feels BIG. More room. More growth. Same heart. Same mission. Same Marigold feel—just elevated (literally 😉). We are beyond excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to welcome everyone into our new space!

Why your baby copying your clap is a BIG deal for language development

When your baby copies your clapping, they’re not just “joining in.”
They’re practicing imitation—one of the biggest building blocks for gestures and early speech.

Here’s the developmental pathway we look for:
Imitation → Gestures → Sounds → Words

And the coolest part?
📚 Research shows that the number of gestures a child uses around 14 months predicts how many words they’ll be using YEARS later.
(Goldin-Meadow et al., 2007, Psychological Science)

So even though clapping to music isn’t a communicative gesture on its own, it strengthens the exact skill needed to start using meaningful gestures like:
👏 “yay!”
👉 pointing
🙌 reaching
🤲 showing
👋 waving

Those purposeful gestures?
They are HUGE for language development.

So the next time your little one copies your clap—celebrate it.
