For some children with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), adult authority can feel overwhelming to their nervous system. Even standing over them can unintentionally send the message:

“I’m in control and you have to comply.”

Try sitting beside them or lowering yourself to their level instead. This simple change can help interactions feel:
• safer
• calmer
• more connected
• more collaborative

Bringing a baby home after a NICU stay can feel like stepping into a whole new world of questions—about feeding, development, and what comes next.

At Marigold Speech, our Infant Follow-Up Clinic, led by Mr. George, provides supportive, individualized check-ins for families after NICU discharge.

We focus on:

Tuesday Tip from Marigold Speech 🌼

Did you know? ✏️

The letter K is actually one of the trickier letters for early learners to write!

Those diagonal lines have to move in different directions and meet at just the right spot—which takes coordination, visual-motor integration, motor planning, and lots of practice. That’s why kids may master other letters first but still struggle with k.

OTs play such an important role in helping children develop the fine motor and visual-motor skills needed for handwriting success 💛

Try practicing diagonal lines separately before putting the whole letter together. Breaking skills into smaller steps can make a big difference!

Save this for your handwriting toolbox and share with someone working on letter formation 💪
