As we continue to roll out our series, Tamara Kasper, who is a part of our Clinical Center of Excellence (CCOE) team takes a moment to share why she is passionate about caregiver collaboration!

"My mission for the last 36 years has included collaborating with families, caregivers, and professionals to promote engagement, speech, and conversation-not only for autistic individuals, but also between professionals and parents-inter and intra-professional collaboration. What I have learned is that parent/caregiver engagement can be the single most critical component in the effectiveness of treatment. I am so passionate about helping young BCBAs feel confident and embrace collaboration that I have designed a model for collaborative assessments and meeting with my colleagues Dr. Lilith Reuter-Yuill and Dr. Lina Slim-The Applied Model of Interprofessional Collaboration (AMIC)."

Caravel Intake’s 2nd Annual all team gathering!

Our team had a wonderful day together learning and growing, recognizing our teammates for demonstrating Caravel’s values, and simply getting to know each other better. Stronger bonds make stronger teams! Our Caravel Intake team also loves to represent Caravel all day, every day! ! This year’s gathering was held virtually, and you can’t have an event without the iconic Brady Bunch photo.

Caravel’s Davenport (IA) clinic team recently celebrated a remarkable milestone: operating for 12 straight months at what we consider “on model” standards. When asked how they do it, one teammate explained a focus on two components in particular, “Number one is team engagement with treatment delivery following right behind. Supporting each other each and every day is a huge key to the success of not only ourselves but the kids, the families, and the clinic. Without one we wouldn’t have the other!”

The Clinical Center of Excellence is excited to announce a new ongoing training series! Each month, clinical teams are gathering to learn ways to expand and improve the ways we serve our clients’ entire families. The Caregiver Collaboration series focuses on ways to connect, support, and empower our most important treatment partners.
