Collin Lee Miller

Collin Lee Miller, age 31, went home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2026. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, at Bethel Church from 9:30 am to 11:30 am with funeral services to follow. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. Luncheon to follow.

Born on September 7, 1994, Collin “Connie” Miller was the beloved son of Heather and Paul Burnside, and Shannon and Lori Miller. He was born and raised in Janesville, where he met the love of his life, Siahra Paige Taylor. They were united in marriage on January 5, 2019, and together shared the greatest joy of his life — his daughter, Finley Rose Kathlein Miller.

Collin successfully completed the five-year plumbing apprenticeship to earn his Journeyman Plumber’s License. He was a proud union brother of the Local 75 Plumbers Union and worked as a service plumber for All Comfort Services in Madison. Collin woke every morning at 4:30 am ready and proud to provide for his family. He was a hardworking man of integrity — the first person friends and family called when something needed fixing. He took tremendous pride in working with his hands and living the blue-collar life. He believed that a job worth doing was a job worth doing right, and he approached every task with care, dedication, and craftsmanship. One of his greatest dreams was to someday own his own plumbing shop.

When Connie wasn’t working, he treasured every moment spent with his two best girls. He was a devoted husband and loving father who spent every free moment he could with his family. He loved cheering Finley on at horse shows, rodeos and dance recitals, always being the loudest and proudest voice in the crowd. Bow hunting was his passion. In the woods chasing whitetail deer with his bow, was his sanctuary and where he often said he felt closest to God while sitting in a tree stand.

Connie was also a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous and would have celebrated nine years of sobriety this July — an accomplishment he carried with humility and strength. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, selfless love, and deeply kind heart. He had an extraordinary gift for making others feel loved and brought so much light into the world.

He will be forever loved and deeply missed by his devoted wife, Siahra Miller; his cherished daughter, Finley Miller; his parents, Paul and Heather Burnside and Shannon and Lori Miller; his in-laws, Matthew and Kimberly Symons and Mark and Clarissa Taylor; his twin brother, Clifford (Kendra) Miller; brothers, Zachary (Sarah) Miller, Evan (Clare) Burnside; and chosen brother, Ed Haas; sisters, Katie McCann, Shannon Miller and Hattie Burnside; grandparents, Bob and Juanita Miller, Barb Lein, Lilian Burnside and Larry and Judy Taylor; brothers-in-law, Myles (Abi) Symons, Caleb (Dani) Taylor, and Gabriel Taylor; and beloved sister-in-law, Madilyn (Nick) Tschudy; many cherished nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles; and a wide circle of friends who became family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Greg Lein and Ray Burnside, niece Evelyn Tschudy and by his beloved best friend, Daisy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund established for his daughter, Finley.

Earl C. Marquis

Earl C. Marquis, the only son of Clarence E. and Myrtle A. Marquis, was born on May 27, 1942, and knocked on the pearly gates of heaven on April 26, 2026.

During his youth he spent many weekends at the family cottage in Lincoln County learning carpentry, how to fish (which became a lifelong passion) and swimming in Long Lake. In grade school he was a Cub Scout and earned many badges and the Arrow of Light. He was also Master Councilor while being a member of the Order of DeMolay. Earl was also a camp counselor for two years at Camp Tasomas.

Earl began his musical journey learning to play piano, accordion and cornet. In high school he continued the cornet in band and orchestra. Earl graduated from Wausau High School in 1960; the year their basketball team brought home the gold ball. Enrolling and graduating from Wausau Tech college with a degree in residential design was next after high school. This helped him get his first job at Sterling Custom Homes in Fond du Lac Wisconsin. While working there he joined the Wisconsin National Guard Red Arrow for six years and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant E6. Also, at this time Earl completed schooling at Spencerian College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. His next job was with Spancrete Industry in Waukesha, but they couldn’t offer the desired growth he desired so he reapplied and took a job with Sterling until the Schutte Brothers bought out the company. After a brief time, Earl moved his family to Milton Wisconsin in August 1984 after starting a stable job with Amwood Homes. From this company he was a department manager and Senior Draftsman until his retirement in 2012.

Earl met his wife of 60 years Janice Arlene Hoeth in the Presbyterian church choir in Wausau. They also sang in choir together while in Milwaukee and Fond du Lac before settling into Rock Prairie Presbyterian church choir in 1985.

In his adult years Earl was proud of being part of the Scouting community where he and Jan were Cub Scout leaders, he was a pack leader and troop leader. Many awards were earned including wood badge and the Silver Beaver award. They are also proud that both of their sons earned the honor of Eagle Scout.

Earl is survived by his wife Janice Marquis; sons, Timothy and Mark Marquis; and daughter, Vicki Solomon-McClain. He also has grandchildren, Mike Solomon, Emma McClain, Jacqueline Marquis, London Marquis and Jade Marquis. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as sisters, Ruth Ann Busko and Sue Alice Ninneman.

A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Rock Prairie Presbyterian Church, 8605 East County Road A Janesville. Rev. Dr. Bruce A. Jones will officiate. Memorials may be made to SSM Health Hospice or the Rock Prairie Presbyterian Church Legacy Fund. Henke-Clarson Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
