We've set up a small Freebie space at the front desk—a space where families can share gently-used or leftover baby and postpartum supplies. You're welcome to take what you need or leave something for others. Common items include open packs of newborn diapers, milk storage bags, postpartum care items like pads or sitz bath herbs, nursing pillows, and ring slings.

If you have something to contribute, feel free to bring it to your appointment. If you're no longer a current client, just reach out to check my office hours before dropping by. Please make sure all items are clean, in good working condition, and safe to share. We kindly ask that you do not bring clothes, and be mindful not to overcrowd the space—just a few items at a time keeps it welcoming and useful for everyone.

Let’s support each other with the little things that make a big difference. 💛

As we start to look ahead to next year, my team and I are wondering if any clients or their families might consider leaving a (hopefully positive!) review either on my page or on Google Maps! I'm hoping to continue reaching out to more families in the area as my business evolves in the years to come.

I'm so thankful to be able to do this work. Just today, my assistant texted me the total number of births I've attended and I sat in awe, yet again, at the privilege it is and has been to sit with hundreds of you as you have brought new life into this world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. - Linda

There are times as a midwife I am completely overwhelmed that I get to do this work. That feeling is more intense as I get older for some reason. It surfaced this week after having the privilege of witnessing a woman with a history of several inductions, epidurals and a previous C-section quietly give birth on her bedroom floor by candlelight after 1 hr of active labor that began in its own perfect time. Instead of being in a hospital bed with monitors, an IV and fear hovering over her because her water tends to break “early”, she spent those hours picking flowers and veggies from her garden and snuggling her children.
I’m grateful to the midwives who passed on the wisdom of being watchful while still protecting normal, and incredibly in awe that I get to be a witness to it.

As someone who has spent many years walking alongside families through the seasons of birth, I feel compelled to share something important happening here in Wisconsin. There are proposed changes being considered that would limit the ability of licensed home birth midwives to attend VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), breech, and twin births.

These are not emergencies by default. In the hands of a well-trained, experienced midwife, these births can and do unfold safely at home. Families choose this care because it reflects their values, their history, and their needs. And often, they choose it because hospitals do not offer real options.

Currently, no hospitals in Wisconsin provide 24/7 breech birth services, and most will not support a vaginal birth after cesarean or a planned twin birth. In most cases, families are told their only option is surgery. That’s not informed choice. It’s a lack of access.

If we remove the ability for midwives to offer care in these situations, we don’t make birth safer. We push families out of the system. We leave them without the trusted providers they’ve built relationships with. And we ignore the wisdom and safety that home birth can provide when done with proper training and support.

If you care about birth freedom, about families being able to choose how and where they give birth, I invite you to write a letter in support of Wisconsin’s licensed midwives and the families they serve. And if you've had a VBAC, breech or twin birth with a home birth midwife and cherish that opportunity, know that your voice in support of the current regulations will shine.

You can send your letter to:

Welcome baby Clementine, born safely at home with a licensed midwife, just shy of 12lbs! Thank you, Kadin & Paige, for being willing to have your story shared.

This was their 3rd baby with me, the others coming before 40 wks. While still within normal range, it was a surprise to everyone when Paige approached 42 wks. Kadin and Paige were great about taking precautions to check in on baby with kick-counts, frequent midwife appointments and a bio-physical profile ultrasound. Paige passed 5 days worth of gestational diabetes testing at 30 wks. After weighing the risks and benefits, and considering the suspected size of the baby, they decided to follow a natural induction protocol at home at 42 +1 weeks. Their midwife was fortunate to have excellent consulting hospital based providers with a plan B option available if labor didn’t progress perfectly. (If you are an OB or CNM reading this, please know how crucial your willingness to have this relationship with CPM’s is in keeping normal birth safe and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!).

Kadin and Paige are such a sweet couple who giggle and snuggle their way through life together. They are a joy to be around. Labor was no different. Paige had been having a lot of prodromal labor contractions and the babies head felt to be off centered towards her hip. As contractions intensified, but coming very irregularly, Paige was instinctual with her body movements; standing, swaying her hips and arching her back, as well as making frequent visits to the toilet. She appeared completely calm, breathing deeply. She reported feeling the babies head shift to a more central position and at this point, contractions intensified. It was so beautiful to watch how her freedom of movement and being completely undisturbed allowed her to let her body guide her into what it needed to do to safely deliver this baby! Midwives know that arching the back (if it feels instinctual) keeps the shoulder from getting lodged on the p***c bone causing a potential shoulder dystocia and being in an upright position opens the pelvis 30-40% more. Paige delivered Clementine standing, with her back arched and her foot up on a stool, in 2 pushes, after 1 hr of active labor. She had no tearing.

I am completely in awe of this woman’s strength, innate wisdom and trust in her body, and it was an honor to serve her family.

Edit: I tend to be more private about spirituality lately, but Kadin and I had a discussion and decided this story isn’t complete without sharing just how much we all felt the Lord’s hand on this birth. My prayer in the week leading up to it was specifically for wisdom, not unnecessary fear. I was actually on my way to their house, not knowing it was real labor yet, and preparing to discuss hospital transfer with them. God had other plans. I immediately felt completely at peace walking in the door. I wouldn’t have made it if I waited for active labor. We all agreed every step that day was orchestrated by God. Birth is His perfect design.

This one is huge for me — the power of trusting your body to birth. It’s easy to get caught up in the fear of what could happen. Women often come to me with doubts, wondering if they can handle the pain, the uncertainty, the unknown. I hear things like:

‘What if I’m not strong enough?’
‘What if I need an epidural?'
‘What if I can’t do it without pain medication?’

I get it. But what if you can do it? What if your body, this amazing being you’ve been living in all your life, is perfectly capable of bringing a baby into the world? Labor isn’t about being perfect. It’s about surrendering to the process. Trust that your body knows what it’s doing. Every time I get to witness a woman who has chosen to trust her body, whether it’s her first birth or her fifth, it reminds me why I do what I do. Birth is transformative, and trusting yourself is a big part of it. You are stronger than you think, and your body is already prepared for this. Believe in yourself. I do!
