It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my grandfather, Neal W. Schneider. Neal passed away peacefully at home this morning October 16, 2024. Even though Neal retired from the funeral home in 2015 he was always ever present. He was a man of integrity and always went above and beyond. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate the loss of this amazing man.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1250 East Racine Street, Janesville, with Msgr. Donald Heiar presiding. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 4:00 pm until 7 pm on Monday, October 21, 2024 at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.

Yesterday, at our Life Celebration Center we had a lunch and learn about prearranging a funeral. Prearranging funerals can provide peace of mind and guidance for the ones we love after we pass away. If you have any follow-up questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

We had such a great turnout, I heard so many comments about how informative, and how helpful it was. Not to forget how great Italian House did with the food! Best thing about it, free! Keep an eye out for our next one! We will be doing this again!

A few days back we received the "Best of Award" for area's funeral homes. We are so grateful for our current and past families that voted for us. As I always say, it is our honor to serve your family.

I couldn't do this alone, so I would like to take the time to thank my wonderful staff. Thank you Aaron, Andi, Craig, Nicole, Jennifer, Crystal, Alyce, Tom, John L., John R. Ed, Shawn, Hannah, Paul, Lori, Todd, and Kenny. If it wasn't for our family here at Schneider's, we wouldn't be able to do what we do for this area. I hope to continue to grow and serve more families in years to come.

APPRENTICE WANTED: Schneider Funeral Directors, Inc is a family-owned funeral home, crematory and life celebration center in Janesville, Wisconsin. We are seeking an individual to join our team as a licensed funeral director/embalmer apprentice.

A qualified candidate will be enrolled or have recently graduated from an accredited mortuary science program, hold a Wisconsin funeral director apprentice license, hold a valid state driver’s license in good standing with an acceptable driving record, be able to lift, push and pull up to 100 pounds, be willing and eager to be involved in all aspects of funeral service and hold oneself in a professional manner.

We offer a competitive wage, health, dental, vacation, and profit sharing. Work schedule includes every third weekend and being on-call every third night from 5:00 pm until 8:00 am.

Embalming is a process that has been practiced all over the world, in different ways throughout much of history. Until the early 20th century, arsenic was usually used as an embalming fluid, until it was discovered that less toxic chemicals could be used. These days, the body is thoroughly washed using disinfectant and germicidal solutions, then a 4-step embalming process is carefully executed using a specialized solution called Formalin.
