Why Bodywork Is Essential for Horses

Horses are incredibly athletic — but they’re also incredibly stoic.

Tight shoulders can shorten stride.
Saddle imbalance can create behavioral resistance.
Minor nerve irritation can impact performance and willingness.

Routine bodywork helps:

• Improve range of motion
• Increase circulation
• Reduce muscle soreness
• Support proper biomechanics
• Enhance recovery after training or competition
• Extend your horse’s performance longevity

A comfortable horse is a confident partner.

💪 Now Offering Bi-Weekly Physical Therapy Programs

Structured sessions ideal for:

• Soft tissue injuries
• Muscle imbalances
• Post-competition recovery
• Conditioning support
• Rehabilitation plans (in collaboration with your veterinarian)

Friendly reminder that it is pneumonia season! What was going to be a nice trail ride for me and my sweet boy turned sideways real quick.

(Dime has seasonal allergies so his nose running usually isn’t a big deal. It was clear so I didn’t think anything of it) However, when we got on the trail we were not even 10 mins in and he starts coughing nonstop. As I get off to untack him thinking he may be chocking (as he is a grass robber on trails) he continues to cough and wheeze. I give him a few minutes to calm down and catch his breath and we make our way back halter in hand. As we get to the barn i listen to his chest and boy is it nasty sounding. A few antibiotics a nice cool down and some shade he is doing a lot better. I will continue to monitor him and keep our vet on standby if he gets worse.

Owners please keep in mind this is the season for nasty upper respiratory issues. It can come on so sudden and turn ugly very quickly with the temperature changes and rain. This not only goes for horses, but for all livestock. Make sure you know the signs, have proper medications and your vet on standby! I hope everyone’s horses stay cools and healthy in this July weather. I’ll keep everyone updated on Dime. This is the first time he has ever been sick in his 7 years on earth, so this is very new and stressful to him and to me as he is my baby!

Say it with me. A treeless saddle is HORRIBLE! Your horses need a tree in order to protect their spine from damage. Thanks for coming to the ted talk.

Since this is the time to get saddle fitting done before season opened up. I am charging $60 per saddle fit. Y’all get on the books! Haul in only but if you need me to travel mileage will be added.

Something I see a lot of is improper bit placement. We have all heard 1 or two wrinkles and that is just absolutely not correct. Your horse should be taught how to properly pickup and carry a bit from the moment you first put one in its mouth. If we allow wrinkles we start to numb down the horse’s mouth which then causes the horse to start evading and pulling through the bit. This YouTube video shows exactly how the bit should sit and how the horse should be holding the bit. Hope y’all enjoy!

Are you a bit geek? Do you just want to know enough to be able to confidently choose an appropriate bit for your horse? Daniel has come out with a new online...
