💪🚀 Heavy Work in Action: Scooter Board Pulling!

Did you know that “heavy work” activities—like pulling a scooter board—are more than just fun? They give amazing proprioceptive input, which helps children:
✅ Improve focus and attention
✅ Build strength and coordination
✅ Feel calm and organized

When a child pulls themselves—or a friend—on a scooter board, they’re using their big muscles to push and pull against resistance. This provides deep pressure input to the joints and muscles, helping regulate the body and brain.

🖍️✍️ Therapy Spotlight: Prone on Elbows + Swing Time! 🧠💪

Did you know that working in the prone on elbow position (lying on your tummy propped up on your elbows) does more than just look cute? It’s actually a powerhouse position for development!

✅ Builds shoulder and wrist stability — essential for writing and coloring
✅ Encourages weight bearing through the forearms
✅ Strengthens the back and neck muscles to support posture and focus

To make it even more fun and beneficial, we complete this activity on the swing, providing vestibular input—which helps promote engagement, attention, and regulation. 🌀🎯

Therapy disguised as play? Always our favorite kind! 💙

🎃🕸️ Halloween Therapy Fun! 👻🗣️

We’re getting into the spooky spirit while working on our speech and language skills! 🧠✨

This week, we incorporated fun Halloween-themed activities to target:
🗣️ Articulation – practicing our speech sounds
📚 Vocabulary – learning spooky new words
🧍‍♂️ Pronouns – using he, she, they in fun contexts
❓ “Where” Questions – boosting language comprehension and expression

Because therapy is always more magical with a little Halloween twist! 🧙‍♀️🎃

👋 Meet Jayme Horton!

Jayme is a Physical Therapist with a deep passion for helping others. She earned her Master’s in PT from the University of Evansville and went on to receive her Doctorate of Health Sciences from the University of Indianapolis. 🎓

Jayme and her husband Jeremy have been married for 24 wonderful years. They have two amazing sons—Elijah (23), who’s about to graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering 🎉, and Xavier (20), who is currently studying Turf Management at Purdue University. 🌱💼

Their family also includes two vibrant girls they have guardianship of—CJ (9), who loves basketball, softball, and all things art 🏀🎨, and Ally (7), who fills their home with songs about Jesus and loves to play with other kids 🎶❤️. Let’s not forget Lou, their sweet (and bed-hogging) pup who never turns down a good snuggle! 🐶

Jayme enjoys hiking, running, reading, and playing guitar, and she is deeply committed to serving her community. She’s actively involved at St. Mary’s Church, where she loves being part of the praise and worship team, and is a close associate of the Trotter House. 🙌

Her favorite things include dark chocolate 🍫, her sister—her dearest friend and rock 💕—and quality time with her family.

We’re so grateful to have Jayme!
