Trauma care is evolving, and many patients still struggle even when they understand their trauma. The gap between knowing and feeling is where new approaches are making a difference.
We focus on addressing trauma at the brain and nervous system level. Two emerging approaches, Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) and neurofeedback, are helping patients experience real change.
DBR works from the bottom up, helping the brain process trauma at its root. Instead of focusing on thoughts first, it follows the bodyโs natural sequence of response: orienting, shock, and emotion. This allows the nervous system to resolve what has been stuck and reduce long-term symptoms.
Research shows DBR can significantly reduce PTSD symptoms, with nearly half of participants no longer meeting criteria after treatment and very low dropout rates.
Neurofeedback complements this by helping the brain learn how to regulate itself. Studies show it can reduce PTSD, anxiety, and depression, with improvements that continue over time.
Together, these approaches offer a more complete path to healing by combining regulation and deeper processing.
