A narcissist's mindset:

That didn’t happen. And if it did, it wasn’t that bad. And if it was, it’s not a big deal. And if it is, it’s not my fault. And if it was, I didn’t mean it. And if I did, you made me do it.

This is the exact script they follow to escape accountability. First comes denial, where they flat out reject your reality, making you question what you saw or felt. Then comes minimization, where they downplay your pain and make it seem like you’re overreacting. If that doesn’t work, they shift the blame, insisting that whatever happened is someone else’s responsibility—never theirs. After that, they play the “I didn’t mean it” card, trying to soften the impact and paint themselves as harmless. But if pressed further, they’ll flip the entire situation on you, insisting that you pushed them into it, that somehow you’re the cause of their hurtful actions.

This cycle of excuses, denial, and gaslighting keeps you trapped, because every step is designed to invalidate your feelings and make you doubt your own truth. With a narcissist, there is no genuine accountability, no true apology, and no lasting change. There’s only endless manipulation designed to protect their ego at the cost of your peace.

The harsh reality is: you can never win an argument with someone who has already decided that facts don’t matter, and that your pain is never real unless it benefits them.

Thank you Southeast Texas! We were voted "Best of the Best" in Southeast Texas for the third year. I was personally, as an individual, a finalist as well. Two out of three finalist in the counselor category, wow, so unexpected! Dana and I are blessed to have the best clients! They make all the difficult aspects in our profession worth it. We are just two real women who work amazing together and are who we are anywhere you encounter us. Some days we may have on jeans and a t-shirt, no makeup (me! Lol), or hair pulled up in a ponytail but, we always try to give our clients the best service we can. I never dreamed five years ago when I ventured into private practice that I would be honored three years in a row. I only wanted to make a difference in this community and conduct business right by people. Again, we are more than grateful for those of you who support my business & took the time to vote. We took the twins to see Sound of Freedom Sunday night. I am not going to debate with anyone about this movie. I encourage every one of you to make the time to go watch it. It is difficult to watch for most. However, this is the harsh reality of the world we have been living in. S*x trafficking is HERE. It's BEEN here. I am one of many professionals who hear about this first hand too frequently and I am somewhat desensitized to the issue. Having 4 daughters, yes it is terrifying but, I'd rather be knowledgeable and aware so that I can teach my girls. S*x trafficking is not prejudice to color, race, or age. VERY young children are sold daily all across the US. I-10 IS A VEIN for s*x trafficking. Just yesterday in a nice, Texas suburb, a young MAN, that my family loves, had a 57 year old man try to pull him into a vehicle while attempting to grab something from underneath the car seat. Law enforcement believes the man thought he was a teen being that this happened a block or so from a high school. They believe he was reaching for a gun or something to stick him with! Thank GOD he was able to jerk away and run to people in their yard who called the law. This situation was reported and the person had been identified yet, terrifying for our loved one and us!
The National Human Trafficking Hotline, funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and operated by Polaris, a nongovernmental organization, reported that in 2021, 10,359 situations of human trafficking were reported to the hotline, involving 16,554 individual victims. Being aware could save a child, could save YOUR child or grandchild. For several years, we have had the Harvest House, an amazing, Christian, nonprofit organization in Beaumont that responds to the epidemic of child s*x trafficking. They provide education and long-term care as a place of refuge and safety for victims of s*x trafficking. There is a reason such organizations are needed HERE. I am not trying to instill fear in you! I want you EDUCATED and aware of what is all around us and our children. Awareness can save a life!

MUST LISTEN if this is an issue you face.
I heard this today and it's a must share. I talk to clients about this almisr daily sadly. Many people get stuck in life seeking their parents acceptance of the life they create whether that be job, spouse, friends, choices, decisions, etc....unfortunately this ends in people being unhappy, dependent, unhealthy, emotionally immature, feeling irrational guilt, responsible for their parent's emotions, and more. We all have to learn how to take responsibility for our life, set boundaries, be assertive, and create a life we love. You only have ONE life to live and it is YOURS. If you're breathing, it's not too late. ❤️

Stop feeling like a child in your relationship with your parents and learn how to let go of the need for their love, acceptance and approval as an adult.👇🏼...

💥We are excited to welcome Dana Alfaro, MEd., L.P.C. to our team as of July 2022!! Dana is AMAZING with all of her clients which is why we feel priviledged to add her to our team. Building the therapeutic relationship with teenagers and children can be difficult for some professionals. Dana has the ability to get through to them in a comfortable setting where the clients feel safe to open up and discuss their thoughts and emotions with her. 💥💥We are excited to announce that as of August 1st, we will be located at 2580 Nerren Drive in Silsbee, Texas on the highway 96 bypass which is 9 minutes from our old location. The new office space will give our clients more privacy and our practice the ability to grow more. We appreciate all of our clients and hope they are all pleased with this change.
