May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, and at Cathedral Health Care Center we’re proud to recognize the important role speech therapy plays in helping residents maintain independence, safety, and quality of life. 💙🗣️

Today, we’re celebrating Ashley Mitchell, our Speech Therapist and Director of Rehabilitation.

At Cathedral, Ashley focuses heavily on swallow safety while also helping residents with language, communication, and functional cognition within the skilled nursing environment. In her leadership role, she works closely with nursing staff, occupational therapy, and physical therapy teams to coordinate care and help residents maximize both independence and safety.

Her dedication, teamwork, and resident-centered approach make a lasting impact on our facility every day, and we are grateful for all she does for our residents, families, and staff. 👏✨

Last week at Cathedral, we celebrated National Skilled Nursing Care Week with this year’s theme: “Moments in Bloom” 🌸

From planting flowers and creating dirt pudding treats to outdoor games, laughter in the sunshine, and planting a rose bush in our Cathedral garden, the week was filled with meaningful moments big and small. We wrapped it all up with a fun-filled circus day that brought smiles to everyone involved. 🎪

At Cathedral, we know it’s these everyday moments of connection, joy, and community that truly make life bloom. Thank you to our residents, families, and staff for making the week so special. 💐

As we continue celebrating Skilled Nursing Care Week, Dawson’s will be parked in our lower lot serving up ice cream this afternoon. The truck is open to the public, so feel free to stop by and grab a sweet treat while they’re here!

This week is National Police Week, and today we were thankful for the chance to treat the Jasper Police Department to drinks from Spill The Tea with Mama Z

From serving the community to showing up on difficult days, we know the work behind the badge often goes unseen. We appreciate the officers who continue to protect and serve Jasper every day — and we were glad to send a little caffeine and cold drinks their way today.

Turns out… we’ve got some pretty serious anglers at Cathedral. 🎣

Residents took advantage of Indiana’s Free Fishing Day with a trip to a local fishing spot this weekend, and let’s just say there were a few impressive catches reeled in. Between the fresh air and sunshine it made for a pretty great day by the water.

We’re wrapping up National Nurses Week at Cathedral the only way that felt appropriate — with cake! and a visit from our newest “staff member.” 🪿💉

Today we celebrated Florence Nightingale’s birthday while officially promoting Florence NightinGOOSE to Registered Silly Goose status. Complete with her new nursing outfit and badge, of course.
