The holidays are wonderful, but they can also be difficult for people in recovery, those currently struggling with substance use disorder, and families of addicted loved ones. Increased stress, celebrations involving alcohol, and the emotional weight of the holidays can make this time of year particularly challenging.

Tips & Reminders to Help you Navigate the Holidays:

You are not alone!
🔹Utilize recovery resources: NA/AA meetings (many offer special holiday schedules), PAL support group meetings, help hotlines, therapy, and other resources are available.
🔹Talk to loved ones: Be honest about your feelings, anything that makes you uncomfortable, and tell your loved ones how they can best support you!

Give yourself some grace!
🔹Prioritize your wellbeing and sobriety
🔹Avoid situations that threaten your recovery
🔹Don’t put unnecessary stress or pressure on yourself
🔹Acknowledge the challenges of the season and set reasonable expectations
