Did you know that there are a few travel wheelchairs available at the Capitol that you can request to use at any time? Head to the information desk, located between the main entrance and the rotunda on the first floor, to ask. Note: for DRLD, because the need may be high, we encourage you to bring your own mobility aids if possible. For those who cannot, hopefully these might help.

We’re sharing another accessibility feature at the Capitol today! After you pass security at the main entrance, the rotunda is straight ahead. You walk through a mini gift shop and information desk to get there. Each day you can request a sensory kit for free from the people who work there! While they only have a few on hand, we will have more available at the CHS trailer outside for our other crowd. But, anytime you go to the Capitol this is available!

As we count down to DRLD, we'll share different accessibility features of the Capitol (201 W Capitol Ave, Jefferson City, MO 65101), where to find them, and some barriers you might encounter--and how to get around them! First up! The main entrance is accessible, but here's how to find it...

1. The first image is a map of the Capitol Building and the area around it. The main entrance faces High Street. There will be a big lawn in front of that area with a sculpture of Thomas Jefferson. You'll also see the CHS trailer parked in the circle drive just about in front of the sculpture.

2. This image is of the south lawn and Thomas Jefferson. The entrance is in a tunnel behind the stairs you see.

3. The wheelchair accessible ramps and entrance are on both sides of those steps. Here is an image of one side, but you can use either side!
