For months, we’ve been working to reach a fair agreement with UnitedHealthcare that protects your access to the doctors and care teams you trust. Unfortunately, UHC’s approach puts that at risk.

If no resolution is reached by December 31, 2025, SSM Health hospitals, clinics, and providers in Missouri may become out-of-network for UnitedHealthcare members. This could mean higher out-of-pocket costs and fewer options for care for patients who rely on us.

That means our focus has always been – and will always be – on delivering the care you need and trust. For UHC this is about profits. Schmidt and Dr. Denise Tritz on being inducted to St. Mary's Hospital Medical Staff Wall of Honor during the Annual General Medical Staff Meeting held on November 20. Each served in leadership roles as well as being exceptional and highly regarded physicians in their respective medical fields. Thank you Drs. We are continuing to celebrate our Heritage Week. That heritage includes several legends and lessons. One is "The Legend of the Loaf of Bread," where the founding sisters gave their last loaf to a man in need. SSM Health employees receive a loaf of bread to honor the hospital's founding sisters and this legend.

We also have a time-honored tradition of our chaplains blessing the hands of our staff.
