Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons - MAOPS

Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons - MAOPS The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) has been the voice of osteopathic physicians in Missouri for 125 years. colleagues.

We’re most often associated with advocacy for the osteopathic profession at the local, state and federal level. The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) has been the voice of osteopathic physicians in Missouri since 1897. From our office in central Missouri, 1423 Randy Lane, Jefferson City, Mo., 65101, our team members assist and advocate for osteopathic physicians in the Show-Me State. Thanks to MAOPS dedication to - and advocacy for - the osteopathic profession, D.O.s around the state of Missouri enjoy the same practice rights as our medical doctor (M.D.) Today, MAOPS has a seat at the table when issues important to physicians and health care arise. Great turnout at the MAOPS YPN Social this past Wednesday at Springfield BrewCo!
Student Physicians, Resident Physicians, Attending Physicians, Faculty Physicians, and our beloved family members broke up their work or school week grinds for some much needed very informal social time. We slowed down, shared stories, and enjoyed food and drinks together at Missouri’s Winningest Family-Owned/Independent Brewery ❤️

Meet Hailey VanRonzelen – Wetzel Scholar Spotlight!
📍 Hometown: Jefferson City, MO
🏫 COM: KCU–Joplin | Class of 2026
✨ 2nd Year Wetzel Scholar

Hailey discovered the Wetzel Scholar Program through her role as campus MAOPS president and trustee—and it was a perfect fit. With a background in political science and a passion for policy, she saw MAOPS as the ideal way to advocate for patients and the profession she loves.

💬 “There are things I see during rotations that need to be addressed at a higher level. The Wetzel Program gives me the tools and the voice to start that process.”

Through MAOPS, Hailey has built a close-knit network of physicians and fellow students who’ve helped guide her not just professionally—but personally, too.

💡 Fun Fact: Before med school, Hailey worked in the ICU as a nurse in Chicago… and she secretly got married on a mountain!

Great job, Dr. Davis!

Great job, Dr. Davis!

AOA trustee Jeffrey D. Davis, DO, CMD, said insurance companies’ plans to improve prior authorization could ease burnout and improve patient care. The administrative burden is a leading cause of stress for physicians and staff, Davis said, adding that timely reforms could reduce delays in testing and treatment.

Meet Zenobia Tucker – Wetzel Scholar Spotlight!
📍 Hometown: Willard, MO
🏫 COM: KCU–Joplin | Class of 2026
✨ 1st Year Wetzel Scholar

After attending MOAC 2023, Zenobia knew she wanted to be part of MAOPS' mission. Now an active participant in board meetings and a delegate for the AOA House of Delegates 2025, she’s passionate about organized medicine and the future of osteopathic advocacy.

💬 “Dr. Davenport-Kabonic and Dr. Lucore showed me what leadership in medicine truly looks like—smart, compassionate, and bold.”

Zenobia is building her knowledge of legislative processes and advocating for the next generation of DOs, all while inspiring fellow students at KCU-Joplin.

🎥 Fun Fact: Zenobia spent 10 years in the film/TV industry in L.A. and has traveled to 30+ countries—but says nothing beats life on her century farm in Missouri with her chickens and horses.

🏫 COM: ATSU–KCOM | Class of 2026
✨ 2nd Year Wetzel Scholar

Sammy discovered the Wetzel Scholar Program while looking for organizations aligned with her values—and quickly found her place in MAOPS. After attending Advocacy Day as a first-year student, she knew she was on the right path.

💬 “MAOPS has made me feel more prepared to advocate—not just with legislation, but in my everyday life as a future physician.”

One of Sammy’s proudest accomplishments? Launching the MAOPS student support podcast—a platform that uplifts voices from across the state and helps student doctors navigate everything from academics to mental wellness.

🔗 Thanks to connections she made through MAOPS at the AOA House of Delegates, she’ll soon be rotating with a hospice and palliative care physician at the Cleveland Clinic—blending her background in social work with her future in medicine.
