Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons - MAOPS

Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons - MAOPS The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) has been the voice of osteopathic physicians in Missouri for 125 years. colleagues.

We’re most often associated with advocacy for the osteopathic profession at the local, state and federal level. The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) has been the voice of osteopathic physicians in Missouri since 1897. From our office in central Missouri, 1423 Randy Lane, Jefferson City, Mo., 65101, our team members assist and advocate for osteopathic physicians in the Show-Me State. Thanks to MAOPS dedication to - and advocacy for - the osteopathic profession, D.O.s around the state of Missouri enjoy the same practice rights as our medical doctor (M.D.) Today, MAOPS has a seat at the table when issues important to physicians and health care arise. Talks and Tee offs at Top Golf tonight for the SLAOPS District meeting. What a tight knit group! And an exemplary one of the connections we have within the organization and region, across generations. Hearing stories of the impact teaching physicians and former leaders had on generations of physicians was so touching and incredibly inspiring.

This group reminds me to stay dedicated to our osteopathic roots while providing guidance and urging for younger physicians to keep growing. Keep reaching further, stretching, and yes, straining amidst the discomfort of growth. It’s messy and hard and worth it. There is more support surrounding you than you may know. Trust the process and the generations that have come before you. You aren’t alone in these struggles.

Feeling gratitude for the MAOPS family, each and every specialty and generation it represents here in MO!

Kicking off the district visits in Kirksville, MO! Meeting with NRMC residents, faculty physicians, and rotating medical students over lunch, then downshifting for social time with the Northeast Osteopathic District and YPN members at DuKum Inn tonight.

As weather and time and permit during the district visits, I would love to check out the local trails and get some hikes in. One of my wellness goals this year is improving my physical activity through increasing aerobic activity and muscle strengthening. While humbly leaving the rucking to Dr. Paynter, hikes have always been a physical-mental-and emotional regulator and rejuvenator for me.

This morning I revisited Thousand Hills State Park for a hike. This park and these trails have been the backdrop of many fond memories in Kirksville including picnics, triathlon stretch clinics, numerous study breaks, and even a marriage proposal. Couldn’t have asked for better weather this season!

Trail and/or park recommendations are graciously welcome during the visit in your district. Please let me know where to go to keep supporting wellness goals while on the road!

Great turnout at the MAOPS YPN Social this past Wednesday at Springfield BrewCo!
Student Physicians, Resident Physicians, Attending Physicians, Faculty Physicians, and our beloved family members broke up their work or school week grinds for some much needed very informal social time. We slowed down, shared stories, and enjoyed food and drinks together at Missouri’s Winningest Family-Owned/Independent Brewery ❤️
