Affinity Groups are small communities of members who share a similar area of interest or identity. Affinity Group members enjoy opportunities to discuss shared challenges, brainstorm solutions, identify valuable resources and network with like-minded peers. Each group is formed based on grassroots interest and needs and offers opportunities for meaningful conversations in safe spaces. Affinity Groups are self-directed and led by members - these discussions are open to all MSCA members.

Hello School Counselors! We are prepping for MSCA Advocacy Day on February 4!

1. RSVP to Advocacy Day

Please use this link to fill out the RSVP form and let us know that you will be attending MSCA Advocacy Day at the Capitol on February 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m: https://tinyurl.com/mwjb8hyw

2. Schedule Meetings with Your Legislators
To get the most out of your Advocacy Day, we recommend that you schedule appointments with the Senator and Representative of both your home and school address. Now that legislators are back in their offices, the sooner you can reach out to set up your appointment, the better.

a. Use the legislator lookup to find the state Senator and Representative for your home and work address.: https://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup/

b. Use the Advocacy Day Appointment Tracker sheet to check if anyone has already scheduled an appointment with the legislators you want to meet with: https://tinyurl.com/4zrk3sws

-> If there is not already an appointment made, please contact the office of the legislators you would like to meet with and update the tracker with your meeting information. You can use this legislator appointment outreach template (https://tinyurl.com/3d826rz3) for emails and phone calls. We recommend setting meeting times between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm on February 4.

-> If there is already an appointment made with a legislator that you want to attend, please enter your information as an attendee in the sheet.

*Please Note: The MSCA member who schedules the meeting will serve as the point of contact. They will be responsible for communicating any scheduling changes to the other attendees of their meeting.
