Pride is protest.
Pride is party.
Both are sacred. Both are survival.

Pride was born from bricks, blood, and resistance — ignited by trans women who were tired of being erased.
They didn’t ask for permission to exist. They fought for it.

And today, we carry that fire.
But we also carry the weight.

That’s the duality of Pride.

It’s the ache of who we’ve lost.
It’s the joy of being here — visible, loud, soft, tired, proud.
It’s the dissonance of rainbow flags flying while our rights are stripped in real time.
It’s rage and reverence.
It’s chosen family and generational trauma.
It’s showing up to the parade and needing to hide under a weighted blanket after.
It’s both. Always both.

And if Pride feels complicated this year, we want you to know:
That makes sense.
You’re not alone.
You’re not broken.
You’re living inside a nervous system that’s been asked to endure too much for too long — and still dares to hope, to heal, to love.

As we continue disrupting the noise around self-harm, let’s talk about what real support looks like.

✅ DO validate their emotions – A simple “I hear you” can go a long way.
✅ DO offer support, not ultimatums – Healing happens at their pace, not yours.
✅ DO educate yourself – Understanding self-harm reduces stigma and fear.

❌ DON’T shame or threaten – Guilt won’t stop self-harm, but support can.
❌ DON’T ignore or dismiss – Their pain is real, and they need to be heard.
❌ DON’T force solutions – Instead, ask, “How can I support you right now?”

Small moments of understanding can create big shifts in healing. Keep showing up.
