❤️💙We are proud to be the first Ambulatory Surgery Center in Western PA to add cardiac catheterization to our list of services offered! ❤️💙 This short video shows a small glimpse of the process. We typically access the right radial artery and insert a small hollow tube. Next a catheter is inserted over a wire to your ascending aorta. Selective images of your left and right coronary arteries are visualized using IV contrast and x-ray. Multiple views are taken. Pending the images it will either be a diagnostic ( meaning no significant blockages to fix) or an intervention ( meaning balloon angioplasty and/or stenting). After the intervention is complete, the catheter is then removed. The sheath in your wrist is then removed and a small band applied to stop the bleeding.
