It’s the most wonderful time of the year! What better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a little early Christmas shopping? AMH police officer Chuck Olive teamed up with local law enforcement officers from the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office, West Jefferson Police Department and Jefferson Police Department, along with Badges of Ashe and Walmart, to give back to our community by spreading holiday cheer to children and teens during the annual Christmas with Cops event December 2. We look forward to this event every year, and we are glad that we were able to once again play a part in helping these students have a memorable Christmas.

For nearly 80 years, Ashe Memorial Hospital has provided the highest quality medical care available to the people of Ashe County and its surrounding areas. Our board-certified physicians, nurses and staff are members of the High Country community and work diligently to keep our community as healthy as possible.
History
In 1941, Ashe Memorial Hospital was established as a not-for-profit hospital to serve rural communities across the Blue Ridge Mountains. While the hospital has grown from a small medical facility to a world-class hospital offering a wide variety of emergency, elective and preventative health services, the focus has remained the same: to provide the highest level of care possible close to where you live.
As a not-for-profit organization, our hospital receives no tax dollars and all profits are reinvested in the facility. Ashe Memorial Hospital is completely owned by shareholders. Anyone can purchase a share for $100. Shareholders get no financial benefit, but they get to elect the 18 community members who serve on our Board of Trustees.
Services
At Ashe Memorial Hospital, you will receive all the routine and emergency medical care you expect along with wellness services and community resources that might surprise you. Our emergency room delivers 24-hour emergency services to the Ashe County community. The Mountain Family Care Center provides non-emergent care services during convenient hours, including nights and weekends. Since this facility is on our campus, the emergency department is close by should you need a higher level of care.
The Wilma Vannoy Birthing Center is home to state-of-the-art labor and delivery services. Prenatal care at our facility before delivery helps expectant mothers have the healthiest pregnancies possible, and quality care for both mother and baby after delivery can set new mothers’ minds at ease.
Community Wellness
Your ongoing health is a top priority for Ashe Memorial Hospital. Regular mammogram parties make this preventative breast cancer screening less anxiety-inducing, while our DEXA scans and other diagnostic services give you tools to make informed decisions about your health, all without traveling far from home.
Our Mountain Hearts Fitness Center offers gym equipment and exercises classes aimed at helping you lead a healthier, more active life. This facility is open to the public, regardless of whether you see a doctor at our facility or not.
Convenience
When you are sick or injured, you need care close to home. When you are looking for help staying well, you are more likely to use preventative services if they are convenient. Ashe Memorial Hospital delivers the care you need when and where you need it. You do not have to travel far to see a doctor or receive care, and making an appointment could not be easier.
At Ashe Memorial Hospital, we look forward to helping you be the healthiest person you can be.
