The compassionate care that this team provides on a daily basis for each of its patients during the most difficult time in their lives is truly remarkable. We're so proud to have them as part of our AMH family! Thank you to the patient who nominated the department and to the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce and SkyLine/SkyBest for the award.

Happy Pink Friday! Our team members are joining together every Friday in October to raise awareness and show their support for breast cancer by wearing pink.

Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and that it's the second leading cause of cancer death among women? Mammograms are among the most powerful breast cancer detection tools available. This October, we hope you will think pink and be sure to schedule your mammogram today!

What a memorable day on the course! Not even a few early morning rain showers could dampen our spirits. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each of our sponsors, players and volunteers who graciously supported our 31st annual Frank M. James Golf Tournament. Without your generosity, commitment and enthusiasm, the success of this year's tournament would not have been possible. We truly appreciate your continued support of Ashe Memorial Hospital and the care we provide for our community.

AMH Police Chief Rick Swain had quite the view of Jefferson this morning from the roof of Bojangles! Rick teamed up with local law enforcement agencies for the annual Rooftop Cops fundraiser to support local children and their families suffering from cancer. The fundraiser runs until 7 p.m., so there's still time to stop by and make a donation.

We're pleased to welcome Aaron Glenn, RN, MSN, to the team as our new Chief Nursing Officer. Aaron has more than 20 years of nursing and leadership experience, including having spent 11 years serving as the Senior Director of Nursing/Chief Nursing Officer at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital, a critical access hospital in Lexington, Va.

“When you work in a small community, the people that you’re taking care of are the individuals that you cross paths with on a daily basis,” Aaron says. “We’re changing lives, and we want our nurses and care givers to be the best at their jobs that they can possibly be. It’s easy to recognize that the impact of the care inside the hospital on the community is enormous.”

Quality Care You Can Rely On

For nearly 80 years, Ashe Memorial Hospital has provided the highest quality medical care available to the people of Ashe County and its surrounding areas. Our board-certified physicians, nurses and staff are members of the High Country community and work diligently to keep our community as healthy as possible.

History

In 1941, Ashe Memorial Hospital was established as a not-for-profit hospital to serve rural communities across the Blue Ridge Mountains. While the hospital has grown from a small medical facility to a world-class hospital offering a wide variety of emergency, elective and preventative health services, the focus has remained the same: to provide the highest level of care possible close to where you live.

As a not-for-profit organization, our hospital receives no tax dollars and all profits are reinvested in the facility. Ashe Memorial Hospital is completely owned by shareholders. Anyone can purchase a share for $100. Shareholders get no financial benefit, but they get to elect the 18 community members who serve on our Board of Trustees.
