Imogene Anderson McClary of Jellico, Tennessee went to be with her Heavenly Father Tuesday, September 2nd after a brief illness.
Imogene graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga and attended Carson Newman College where she met Pat, and it was love at first sight. They were married for 71 years before he passed away in 2022.
Imogene loved children and she loved music. Countless children’s lives were impacted by them being a part of the Children’s Choir at First Baptist during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The Christmas Program was a special event each year for the church. She also helped lead the music in Awana programs at the church. Her beautiful singing voice and her love of music helped inspire all who knew her to love music.
She was also an instrumental part of UBank for over 20 years as her husband Pat’s partner in running the bank. After she retired, she served as a director of the bank for more than 20 years, for a total of over 40 years of service.
Imogene loved being right, and the frustrating thing to those who knew her well was that she was – always right. Even in her 90’s, her mind was sharper than most.
She was an avid UT fan – not just football, but basketball and baseball. She always had the Saturday football TV schedule printed out so she wouldn’t miss anything.
