Stephen Meeks: 06-07,1958 - 09-24-2025
This precious, humble, kind, faithful, God-loving, prayerful, beautiful husband of mine is gone too soon and so suddenly. We assume a heart attack. He was so strong, so it was a surprise to us all.
Equally surprising is the unexplainable peace and palpable presence of God we are all experiencing! We’ve spent days remembering, praising the Lord together, crying, laughing. (Steve was so funny!)The sweetness of sharing memories together these twelve days and the beauty of such great love among our children and grandchildren for each other and for me leaves me overwhelmed! I am so blessed.
If you didn’t know him, I wish you could. If you did, you also were blessed. He truly cared about people, bc he cared about the kingdom. He loved God’s Word; He loved His Savior; He loved his family! I honestly can’t do this man justice with my words! He was something! So creative, so smart, never stopped dreaming, never stopped growing!
He loved me and I loved him. We hurt each other, forgave each other, brought out the worst and the best in each other. We were a team. It’s truly hard to imagine life without him.
We had a simple burial here on the farm with just immediate family (and a few friends who’d helped us from day one.) We’re planning a Celebration of Life for October 25th.
Thank you for such a beautiful outpouring of love and help. We are honored and humbled. Some people I’ve never met (friends or coworkers of our children) have brought food for an army! We are quite a crowd-11 adults and 14 kids! Thank you! And bless you!
Steve is having the time of his life! We do rejoice for him! But we also grieve. Such a loss! But we do grieve differently than those who have no hope, no trust in a future glory. This hope makes all the difference! We sing “Holy, holy, holy!” along with Steve and the angels! Heaven is our true home. We’re just pilgrims here.
Steve’s death has caused us to reflect on his life. He had such a sweet, real friendship with God! Prayer, both talking with and listening to the Father, and Bible study, often committing to memory larger portions, were daily habits. He learned to love well and parent well by knowing the Father! He was honestly one of the best daddy’s I’ve ever known!
Our prayer is that his life and now death will be a catalyst to great growth for you! He would love that!
