Rancho del Chaparral

Rancho del Chaparral One of two properties owned by the Girl Scouts of NM Trails, Rancho del Chaparral summer camps focus on getting girls outdoors and discovering new skills.

Rancho del Chaparral is nestled among majestic ponderosa pines in the Jemez Mountains in Northern New Mexico. The camp sits as an island, surrounded by the Santa Fe National Forest, 22 miles east of Cuba. The land was purchased in 1963 using funds raised by selling cookies and money donated by families and friends of local Girl Scouts. Since opening in June 1969, thousands of girls have experience

d the beauty and wonder of the outdoors at Rancho del Chaparral. This is a page for Girl Scout members, alumnae, volunteers, parents, and supporters of Girl Scouts. Helping Hands Work Weekend at Rancho del Chaparral: May 26 - 28, 2023

Crowded campsites giving you the blues? Spend a weekend giving back to camp and enjoy the mountain air, cooler temperatures, and beautiful scenery while lending a helping hand.

Come as a volunteer group, Girl Scout Troop, family, or as an individual adult, and help us finish up preparing camp for our summer season. All hours spent helping at camp count towards the "Service to Girl Scouts" award, this is also a great time to visit camp and brainstorm Bronze, Silver, and Gold award projects!

We will have lots of projects for all sizes and skill levels from cleaning units, replacing window screens, checking smoke detector batteries, and painting to rebuilding tent platforms, fixing small plumbing/electrical issues, and putting tents/wagon covers.

All are welcome; you do not need to be a registered member to come and volunteer.

Lodging and meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday and Sunday) will be provided. No meal will be provided on Friday evening or on Monday.

More details and registration options explained on the registration form.
