Friday Facts that are hard to hear.
Menopause and peri menopause do not cause weight gain. It can create barriers to losing, but directly it does not. Only a calorie surplus is capable of creating fat gain.
Our metabolism works the same at 40, 50, than it did at 20, 30. It’s that our lives get busier as our kids get older, but we move less. Desk job, playing taxi, sitting in the stands/bleachers, etc.. Busy, but moving less, and our diet doesn’t change.. So what was once working, now doesn’t.
Your weekends are about 45% of your week, so no matter how “good” you were M-Fri afternoon, it will never make up for your weekends and “cheat meal/s”. Doing better does not = a calorie deficit.
Working out burns VERY little calories, and will never take over for a poor diet. I get 20-30k steps daily… Lift 4x a week, and if I take in more calories than needed, I still gain weight.
It’s not “starvation mode”. That’s not a thing.
Be honest with yourself, and stop believing the trendy buzz crap.
It’s not your cortisol, it’s not hormones, it’s not your gut health… It’s taking in more calories than your body needs. PERIOD. Proven time and time again, and never disproven.
