What we love about CommuniCamp™ is the community it builds for our families as they meet others who understand what it’s like having a child or teen with . Lead clinician and CommuniCamp™ Counselor Director Jenna Blum, M.S., loves seeing parents and kids come together and build friendships; it is one of the best parts of the whole experience. We are currently recruiting junior counselors for our summer sessions of CommuniCamp™ (June 23-26, July 14-17, and August 11-14), our group intensive treatment program for Selective Mutism!

This is a great opportunity for undergraduate students interested in psychology and pursuing a master's or doctoral program to receive intensive, structured training in Social Communication Anxiety Treatment® (S-CAT) and direct hands-on experience with this clinical population. We are located in the Greater Philadelphia area and welcome counselors from around the state and country.

Teens at CommuniCamp™ get the chance to practice skills and strategies to help them build comfort, confidence, and social communication in all aspects of their lives. These skills include:

Summer is right around the corner and that means one thing: camp season! Summer camps can be a great way to meet new friends and practice social communication skills. Here’s a few things to keep in mind as you consider summer camp.

1) Choose a camp with a small environment

2) Make sure there is an understanding and accommodating staff

3) Ensure that you can meet with your child’s counselor before camp begins

4) Pick a camp where your child’s friends will be enrolled as well

CommuniCamp was made for families to work through together. Our group treatment program welcomes ages 3 to 17, accepts all levels of social communication (including non-verbal), and features parent education and training throughout the whole long weekend. We want to help your family have all of the knowledge and skills you need to continue progressing through Selective Mutism.

Our March CommuniCamp™ was a success! We welcomed families from ten different states and two countries to join us for a long weekend packed full of learning new strategies, parent education and support, and making friends from all over the globe! CommuniCamp™ is underway! Some highlights so far this weekend! Our therapy dog, Lil' Girl made some classroom visits and our campers are working on important strategies like small group interactions and feeling charts. We also got to welcome back former patients and families for our parent panel to share their experience with other parents. Thank you so much to our panelists for sharing your SM journey!
