Cupping is an ancient healing practice originating in China. As a practice that provides many health and healing benefits, it has the full potential to increase quality of life.
I first heard about cupping a couple years ago. I was always interested but never tried it until recently. 2024 is the year to try new things! šŸ˜‰

Most, if not all, the pictures I post of myself are upper body. I’ve always preferred working out upper body. You will see a difference in your upper body faster than you will your lower body any day of the week.

I LOVE looking into the mirror and seeing nice shoulders and biceps or being able to see my triceps through a long sleeve shirt. I mean, who wouldn’t love that!? I’m very happy and confident in my upper body although there is still work to be done.

My lower body on the other hand… not my cup of tea. I HATE working calves, I ALWAYS second guess myself on form when doing a movement even though I have done it hundreds of times before, you don’t see progress as fast, etc. etc. One thing I never fail to do is take pictures. I may not be satisfied in how I look in the pictures but I still take them. Even if they’ll only ever be for me to see.

I decided to look back at previous pictures and compared the picture I found to one I took today and boy did I blow my own mind! 🤯 There is so much improvement in every aspect here! Firmer, bigger glutes, hamstrings making an appearance, the quads are quadingšŸ’šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø, and even calves are even growing.

Had I of not taken the picture on the right, I NEVER would have noticed the improvement we see in the picture on the left. Which ultimately would have lead me to feel beat and down in the dumps! Several hours in the gym working for it all wasted.

Quite honestly, I’ll probably look back on these pictures at some point and think ā€œoh my gosh, why would you ever post that. TAWNY YOU’RE SMALL!!ā€. The truth is, at some point i’ll get over myself, realize it’s not JUST about having muscles, and I’ll look back at these pictures and be so grateful to have chosen a healthy lifestyle and to be able to feel pure confidence regardless of what doors I walk through. ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

Moral of the story.. TAKE THE PICTURES!!! You don’t have to post them now, heck you don’t have to post them ever if you don’t want to. But, if you want to see the progress you have made this is the tried and true method. ;)

How can I expect potential clients to trust that I CAN help them reach their gym goals without evidence of progress?
I’ve posted client progress pictures before but never my own progress pictures!
Someone new to the gym and working out will see results much faster than those that have been going for years! Essentially, our muscles get used to working out and hit a plateau. You’ll stop seeing results as fast as you were in the beginning. THIS IS GOOD! Push yourself past that, progressive overload! GIVE YOURSELF REST DAYS!! You will still gain muscle, your muscles won’t stop growing they just grow slower!
I have been going to the gym for 5, going on 6 years. It took me a LONG time to figure out the myths from the truths you see on social media. I’ll admit, the past couple months I haven’t been as consistent as I probably should have been. This is proof that if you apply yourself you can see progress! Top is from 3 months ago, bottom is yesterday. You don’t have to go 7 days a week for 2-3 hours a day, you really shouldn’t be going that much actually. Apply yourself when you go, give yourself rest days, prioritize good sleep and protein! You will see results with time!

Hard work. Dedication. Discipline.
3 months ago, this sweet girl came to me and asked me to help her start her fitness journey. She wanted to feel more confident in her body and just feel healthier. I worked up a plan, sent it to her, and she made it happen! These results make me so so very happy for how far she’s come! I absolutely love my clients!

Creating a workout plan can be hard, especially if you’re new to the gym and still learning the ropes!

Let’s talk b***y day!

When I’m creating a workout plan for myself or clients I always make sure to include a variety of exercises to work each muscle in whatever muscle group were targeting that day. I also encourage training with a weight that will put you close to failure. With that being said, here are some movements and some of my favorite exercises and why!

1. Heavy Compound Lifts
2. Unilateral Lifts
3. Abduction Style Exercises
……………….
Heavy Compound Lifts:
-Hip Thrusts. This is a hip extension movement meaning your ROM will be less but these are still very effective when done right! They work your glutes in a shortened position and mostly target the glute maximus.
-Glute Extensions. This is also a hip extension moment meaning your ROM will be less but are still effective when done correctly! They also work your glute in a shortened position and mostly target your glute maximus.

2. Unilateral Lifts:
- Bulgarian Split Squats. These are a hip hinge movement and will have allow for more ROM. These work your glutes in a lengthened position and mostly target the glute maximus.
-Single Leg RDL. This is another hip hinge movement and allow for more ROM. They target your glutes in a lengthened position and mostly target the glute maximus.

3. Abduction Style Exercises:
-Hip Abductors. These are movements that move your legs away from your body. They allow for full ROM. When done correctly they are very effective! These will target more of your glute medius and glute minimus.
-Cable Kickbacks. These are movements that move your legs away from your body. They allow for full ROM. When done correctly, they are very effective! These will target more of your glut medius and glute minimus.

I want more energy to go into my heavy compound lifts, then unilateral lifts, followed by abduction style exercises.

Hey y’all! My name is Tawny Wight and I’m a Certified Personal Trainer through ISSA! I started in the gym about 5 years ago and had absolutely no clue what I was doing! I didn’t have any goal in mind at the time and used it more as an ā€œI went to the gym today so I feel productiveā€ or ā€œI need a getaway so I’m going to go to the gym.ā€ Thankfully, my love and commitment to the gym grew and I learned so much! I started reading articles about how muscles work and how going to the gym can benefit not only your physical health and appearance but your mental and spiritual health as well. I’ve learned so much from so many platforms, influencers, and trainings. I had several people reach out to me during my journey asking any random questions and I loved that I had the opportunity to help people with their fitness journey!
While my original mindset was strictly about fitness and mental health, I grew to realize it’s more about creating a manageable and maintainable lifestyle change. It’s not just about being in the gym, it’s about learning new habits that allow for a a long-term healthy lifestyle!

A few things about me:

• I grew up around horses and livestock doing anything and everything from 4-H, FFA, rodeo, and some ranch work!

• I’m currently in school working towards getting my Doctorate in Physical Therapy!

• I will be furthering my education in many different areas but will focus on corrective exercise, exercise therapy, and nutrition!

• I want to do a body building competition!

• I LOVE to be outdoors and do things from skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, hunting, fishing, and more!

Ultimately, I love living a healthy and happy lifestyle and am estatic that I have the opportunities to help others do the same! šŸ¤
