An interesting article that supports the idea that varried and diverse child-focused experiences and interactions promote flexibility in thinking and long term adaptability.

“A slower, longer, more nurturing childhood may actually be the best way to prepare for adulthood. Developing grown-up skills also matters, of course, but a long childhood is itself one key to a flourishing adult life.”

Adverse early experiences can make young minds inflexible, while a carefree childhood has clear cognitive benefits.

Breaking news: Governor Murphy signed into law today bill No. S-3434 which extends special education services for students that will age out of the system over the next three years.

Earlier this month, NJSHA forwarded a letter to the Governor in strong support of this bill. This important legislation will ensure that those students whose education and related services were severely interrupted due to COVID-19 have the opportunity to receive the education and services they missed, and not further miss out due to having reached the age of 21 during the pandemic.
